Overview |
The Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O) employs a workforce of approximately 2,700 staff, represented by 15 collective negotiations agreements, and is responsible for institutional strategic initiatives and operations, which encompasses an expansive range of comprehensive service and business operations across the State of New Jersey. These include planning and construction, facilities, public safety and emergency operations, environmental health and safety, transportation, housing, and auxiliary/retail operations. |
Posting Summary |
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking management support for the Golf Course. Under the general direction of the Pro/Manager, the Interim Assistant Golf Professional has daily authority for all aspects of golf course play. Position is guided by written golf course policies and procedures.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Making decisions requesting a player to discontinue play and leave the golf course for policy violations.
- Ability to engender an efficient, friendly attitude in the seasonal support personnel for the player constituency.
- Daily contact with the playing constituency that requires the players' needs be met within golf course policies with tact, diplomacy and courtesy.
- Coordinating and supervising the daily activities of all golf shop support personnel.
- Accounting of daily revenues and deposits as well as overseeing opening and/or closing of the golf course.
- Properly maintaining the practice and teaching area.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Up to two years relevant experience in an administrative function, good communication and interpersonal skills, and computer literacy.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Experience in a pro shop setting or outside operations is strongly preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
- Due to the nature of the position, must play golf and be familiar with golf terminology and etiquette.

- Ability to work opening and closing shifts as per the needs of the golf course.
