JOB TITLE: Network Engineer (SME)

GOVERNMENT AGENCY: Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Infrastructure Services & Back Office Support (ISBOS)

LOCATION: Fully Remote; Employee will be required to travel to Clarksburg, WV upon hire for a 2-day initial orientation

POSITION TIMING: Contingent on award; expected contract start date June 2025

ITC is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Network Engineer to join our team supporting The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Division. As part of the CJIS Division, you will be instrumental in equipping law enforcement, national security, and intelligence community partners with the critical criminal justice information necessary to protect the United States while ensuring the preservation of civil liberties.

This position involves a wide range of responsibilities focused on maintaining and optimizing network infrastructure to support vital criminal justice functions. The ideal candidate will have extensive expertise in networking, firewall configuration, and network troubleshooting, as well as a proven ability to work effectively within a highly dynamic, secure, and mission-critical environment.



Responsibilities

    Network Infrastructure Management: Apply Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) routing and switching principles to design and implement practical network solutions.
  • Troubleshooting & Problem Solving: Perform multi-level troubleshooting, including root-cause problem identification and resolution for complex networking issues.
  • LAN/WAN Configuration & Maintenance: Configure, maintain, and upgrade LAN/WAN design, topology, and infrastructure. Install, configure, and manage LAN/WAN hardware and maintain wiring closets and nomenclature.
  • Hardware Management: Oversee and manage Cisco and other network hardware, including consumer-grade routers and switches, ensuring smooth operation and performance.
  • Network Monitoring: Utilize standard network management and packet analysis tools to monitor network health, performance, and security.
  • Security Implementation: Plan, implement, and administer perimeter security measures, including firewalls and other network security technologies, to protect against external and internal threats.
  • Technology Evaluation: Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and provide recommendations for efficient and cost-effective improvements to network infrastructure.
  • Collaboration & Reporting: Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on network designs and infrastructure requirements. Provide clear and concise reports to leadership and stakeholders.


Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in IT with a focus in Network Engineering, with at least 2-5 years of hands-on experience in firewall configuration and load balancing.
  • Certifications:
    • Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) Enterprise Infrastructure, required.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Advanced knowledge of network protocols including TCP/IP, User Datagram Protocol (UDP), and other common networking protocols.
    • Expertise in Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) and Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP) routing protocols.
    • Expert-level understanding of Virtual Private Network (VPN) design and configurations.
    • Strong troubleshooting skills, with a focus on resolving TCP/IP connectivity issues.
  • Security Clearance: Active Top Secret clearance.
  • Methodology Experience: Experience working in an Agile organization utilizing frameworks such as Scrum, Extreme Programming (XP), Kanban, and SAFe.

DESIRED:

  • FBI Program Experience: Prior exposure to FBI IT/Infrastructure programs and operations is highly desirable, as it will allow for a faster integration into the CJIS Division's mission and objectives.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, System Management, Business Administration, or a related field, preferred
