Students pursue postbaccalaureate, predoctoral, continuing education and advanced education in general dentistry programs.

The Receptionist III within the Kornberg School of Dentistry's Orthodontics department coordinates the non-clinical patient functions within the clinic. Primarily the Receptionist III will be responsible for greeting and checking patients into the clinic, scheduling and confirming appointments, registering new patients, and creating and maintaining patient files. In addition,

the Receptionist III will be responsible for tracking and maintaining patient flow within the practice, answering phones including screening calls, taking messages, answering questions of a non-complex nature, and assisting with insurance verification and entry into axiUm, billing functions and payment of fees. Keeping the patient waiting area well organized including making sure chairs are in the appropriate places, and reading materials are organized and up to date. Performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions:

*Scheduling and confirming patient appointments.

*Maintaining patient files; Keeping locked and security when not in use.

*Keeping daily census of patient flow within the clinic.

*Answering and handling routine questions and concerns from patients or other parties.

*Keeping the patient waiting area well organized including making sure chairs are in the appropriate places, and reading materials are organized and up to date.

Required Education & Experience:

At least one years of related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills & Abilities:

*Understands the importance of maintaining confidentiality under HIPAA standards.

*Must be able to work with a diverse population of students, faculty, staff, and patients and their families.

*Must have good written and verbal communication skills.

*Excellent organization and interpersonal skills.

*Excellent customer service skills.

*Ability to work in a team environment and to fill in other areas of the school as needed.

*Ability to multitask, prioritize work, and make independent decisions for non-complex issues.

*Patient coordination for all non-clinical patient functions.

Preferred:

*Previous experience within a dental, medical, or higher education environment.

*Bilingual English/Spanish.
