If so, we are looking for someone like you to join the Information and Data Resources team in the Force Projection Sector at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL).

We are seeking a self-starter who will be responsible for cataloging, storing, retrieving, and distributing mission-critical information. We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Data Processor/Analyst to join our team to ensure timely receipt, processing, analysis and distribution of data used to analyze the accuracy and reliability of National Security Data. As a member of the Information and Data Resources Center, you will be joining a team of dedicated professionals in the area of information and data management.

As an Information and Data Resources Specialist you will be:

  • Responsible for the timely acquisition of external sponsor and internal customer documentation, including reports, e-mail, manuals, etc.
  • Working in a DoD classified environment, where you will engage in the acquisition, storage, retrieval, and distribution of high volumes of operational and organizational information and data resources.
  • You will engage in the development of technological and procedural improvements to enhance the processing, storage and retrieval of data.
  • Involved in the retention and destruction of classified and unclassified materials based on program policies.
  • Participating as a team member at offsite locations for data collection and handling on special operations.
  • Assisting the team with classified and unclassified, physical and electronic mail handling.
  • Processing and distributing US/UK Trident Strategic Weapon System and in-flight Telemetry data.
  • Conduct quality control checks on data from initial receipt through final data delivery and apply problem-solving and analytical skills to resolve data discrepancies to ensure data accuracy.
  • You will distribute a variety of data products in accordance with program and sponsor policies and procedures.
  • You will assist with keeping procedures current by writing and updating test plans, and processing checklists.
  • Develop recommendations to streamline and improve current data processing, distribution and storage capabilities

Qualifications

You meet the minimum qualifications for the job if you:

  • Have a High School Diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 3 years of relevant administrative support experience, or equivalent combination of higher education and experience.
  • Are proficient with the Windows operating system and the Microsoft Office suite of products.
  • Have experience using databases to enter, search, and retrieve records.
  • Have a work and performance history that reflects a motivated individual with strong communications, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently and use critical thinking skills in managing and coordinating the flow of high-value information.
  • Willing to work on-site full time.
  • Can work on multiple tasks and set priorities within the assigned area of responsibility.
  • Are able to travel to sponsor facilities for at least two (2) weeks per year for work assignments.
  • Are able to obtain Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain Secret level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

You will go above and beyond the minimum requirements if you have:

  • An Associate's degree in an analytical, information management, or business discipline.
  • Three to five years of experience working in a DoD classified environment and in the management of information designated as National Security Information through the application of NISPOM requirements to proper marking, storage, distribution, and disposition of sensitive and classified information.
  • Have experience in handling and processing classified material and working with classified workstations in accordance with the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM).
  • Familiarity with U.S. / U.K. Navy Fleet Ballistic Missile Submarines and Strategic Weapons Systems.

The referenced pay range is based on JHU APL's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and/or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance. APL provides eligible staff with a comprehensive benefits package including retirement plans, paid time off, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, flexible spending accounts, education assistance, and training and development.
