Instructional System Designer IV/Developer Summary: The purpose of this position is to provide instructional systems design and development services encompassing all phases of the ADDIE process while incorporating instructional principles, theories, concepts, and best practices into plans for training materials and products in support of the U.S. Army Medical Center of Excellence (MEDCoE) at Ft. Sam Houston, TX Job Description:
- Create learning materials grounded in sound educational theory and best practices in
technology using multimedia, software, and programming - Support the instructional design team by utilizing expertise to develop, revise, and maintain
training products - Integrate media components in asynchronous and synchronous training products using
approved government applications (i.e., Captivate, Articulate, Rise, Storyline etc.) - Assist in strategy development to evolve the practice of design
- Provide instruction, consultation, coaching to Government and Military on Instructional
Design Strategies and Application - Establish, generate, and maintain tracking of all relevant files, documents, and
correspondence relative to requests for and delivery of training - Handle logistics of providing training materials, files, and equipment
- Responsible for the testing, certification, and maintenance processes for numerous and
varying courses - Process large volumes of data and perform data reduction and editing
- Conduct Internet searches to support informational requests
- Perform education related technology tasks to include 508 compliance, SCORM compliance (ADL test suite), operability/playability troubleshooting and repair, hosting system compatibility
- Lead and foster a collaborative development process while working closely with government and contract instructional designers, training specialist/developers, media specialists, programmers, subject matter experts, project sponsors and key project stakeholders
- Develop new, complete distributed learning training products (interactive multimedia instruction, video, audio, job aids, etc.) that include complete content that exactly meets the course objectives, learning activities at the appropriate interactivity level
- Modify/update existing distributed learning products provided from various sources
- Perform a variety of writing tasks ensuring cohesiveness, clarity, flow, appropriate
reading level, and compliance with Army and grammatical writing guidelines - Provide detailed update briefings to the Instructional Design Creative Director, corporate Program Manager, and COR on any critical issues requiring prompt attention prior to the actual suspense for deliverables
- Additional tasks include the following: research and gather data; develop plans, communications, briefings, and policies; load and maintain courseware files; coordinate repair
options and decisions with proponents; repair/modify courseware; re-develop courseware that
cannot be repaired; complete course academic; and test and validate products on target learning
management system
Qualifications:
- 10+ years and a MA/MS degree or certification or bachelor's degree in related field (like education, technology, or subject-matter area)
- 12+ years of experience developing and sustaining formal training products
- Proficient in using learning management systems (LMS)
- Experience with online/blended learning education and training development/maintenance
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures within training/course development
- Possess excellent writing, proofreading and solid layout skills to develop training course materials
- Experience overseeing the efforts of less senior staff and/or be responsible for the efforts of all staff assigned to a specific project/task
