Overview

As a Field Services Technician for Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC), you will work on a variety of projects, providing operations support, construction quality assurance, and construction support services for various solid waste management facilities and construction projects. You will work as a member of the project CQA team, and at times independently, to evaluate whether the construction meets governing project specifications and regulatory permit conditions. You will perform field testing of various construction materials and secure samples of materials that are to be laboratory tested to confirm compliance with project specifications. You will also work closely with the CEC project manager to prepare the as-built documentation needed to certify completed work. The majority of your time will be spent in the field and traveling to and from project sites. Travel and out-of-town work are required periodically based on project needs.

Your duties will include:

    Assist with construction quality assurance projects, including monitoring, documentation of work, field testing of earthworks and other materials, and providing project support to assure construction is consistent with project plans and specifications;
  • Be available for out-of-town work associated with projects; and
  • Provide on-call and weekend work for projects as may be required.


Qualifications

  • High School diploma/GED education - (associate/bachelor's degree(s) are welcome);
  • 1-3 years of experience in a related field;
  • Experience with construction projects is not required, but is preferred;
  • Ability to work independently at construction sites and communicate with construction foreman/superintendents, with support from a CEC project engineer/manager;
  • Ability to exert physical effort in handling objects up to 50 pounds on occasion;
  • Have the conditions and the ability to traverse uneven surfaces;
  • Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and ability to drive a pickup truck;

  • Computer skills using Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat;

  • Ability to learn and obtain various certifications and training, including:

    • OSHA Construction Safety Training (typical OSHA level D site conditions for landfill, safety training for CEC, and for client prerequisites will be conducted prior to any fieldwork);

    • Nuclear Density Gauge, GCI-ICP, NICET, ICC, and ACI Certifications (not required to start, more for possible long-term career development).
