Job Summary |
The Assistant Athletic Trainer is a full-time, 10-month, exempt position. The position provides preventative care, rehabilitation and athletic training services for all competitions and practices for intercollegiate sports, organizes and administers athletic training services for student-athletes, and collaborates with other faculty and staff to promote well-being across the University. |
Salary Range |
$46,000-$48,000. This is the expected salary range for this position. The actual salary offered will depend on a candidate's experience and education, and departmental budget. |
Essential Functions |
- Assists the Director of Sports Medicine with all organizational duties to operate an effective athletic training program.
- Carries out all assigned duties delegated by the Director of Sports Medicine.
- Assists in the development, supervision, and management of the budget for all athletic medical supplies and equipment.
- Assists with the selection, training, and supervision of student employees who assist in the training room.
- As appropriate to level of training, evaluates and provides appropriate care and treatment to all student-athletes for injuries.
- When necessary, refers student-athletes to the team physician for diagnosis of conditions relating to injuries
- Develops and supervises rehabilitation programs for injured student-athletes, in consultation with the Director of Sports Medicine and/or team physician as needed.
- Provides athletic training coverage during intercollegiate home contests and make arrangements for coverage to be provided by host schools when not traveling with teams.
- Potentially provide athletic training coverage during intercollege away contests based on department needs.
- Supervises and covers all pre-season and regular season activities of the Elmhurst University athletic teams.
- Provides arrangements for the conduct of athletic physicals to be administered prior to the start of all sport programs.
- Collaborates with other University constituencies and participates in their events as determined by the Director of Athletics.
- Endorses and supports the athletic department's representation within the University's Division of Student Affairs, including participation in Division meetings and committees.
- Endorses and supports other sports within the Athletic Department and other duties as outlined by the Director of Athletics.
- Demonstrates a working knowledge of NCAA, CCIW, and institutional policies and regulations.

NCAA enforcement procedures, including suspension without pay or termination of employment for significant or repeated violations. |
Minimum Qualifications |
- Bachelor's Degree.
NATABOC certified in good standing.- Licensed to work in state of Illinois.
CPR/First Aid, AED certified in good standing.- A valid driver's license that is in good standing.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements |
Employee is subject to both indoor and outdoor environmental conditions (temperatures varying from below 32 degrees to over 90 degrees) for periods of over one hour, subject to hazards such as proximity to moving parts, electrical current, etc., and involves heavy work exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly in order to move objects. Must be able to climb stairs and ladders and lift 50 pounds. Must be willing to nights and weekends, as required. |
