The University of Scranton Department of Nursing invites applications for a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure track Faculty Specialist position in Nurse Anesthesia starting in August, 2025. This is an in-person, on site position; regular on-campus presence is required. Teaching and service are required. The Department of Nursing is strongly committed to excellence; the Department’s Nurse Anesthesia graduates are recognized for being ready to deliver high-quality, evidence-based, holistic, person-centered care across many settings. Responsibilities include didactic and clinical teaching, along with administrative tasks and clinical director responsibilities. The Department of Nursing offers a welcoming work atmosphere. The position requires a minimum of 3-5 years of current practice as a nurse anesthetist and a doctoral degree in nursing or evidence of progress toward a doctoral degree. Applicants must be licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, hold certification as a Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA), and have evidence of formal instruction in curriculum, evaluation, and instruction. One day per week is allotted for personal clinical practice to maintain clinical competence. The Department of Nursing, which resides in the Leahy College of Health Sciences at The University of Scranton, offers a bachelor’s degree program; a master’s degree program with two tracks; a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree program, also with two tracks; and post-graduate certificate programs. Nursing programs at The University of Scranton are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA). The Department is also home to the Iota Omega Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau, International Honor Society of Nursing. The Leahy College of Health Sciences supports faculty clinical practice, and there are opportunities for collaboration with local and regional clinical partners.
