Senior Reliability Test Engineer w/Zoox Inc. (Fremont, CA) Apply mechanical engineering principles to test mechatronic components on electrodynamic shakers for evaluation vibration endurance. Troubleshoot issues in testing, setup tests capture test data and analyze the results to document failure modes. Oversee component and sub-system-level testing activities and/or work within a team to execute tests from request to reporting of results. Direct and provide hands-on support to technicians in installing test components and instrumentation onto vibration tables, thermal chambers, ingress protection equipment, and other relevant test equipment. Oversee the planning and daily activities in the validation test lab. Develop and report KPIs to ensure consistent quality and efficiency. Support the development of the lab including process planning for new test equipment. Arrange necessary logistics for parts to and from other sites. Execute tests and compile data, and analyze the data, and create report results. Own component & sub-system level testing activities so they are conducted accurately and efficiently. Responsible for supervising a team of 2 to 3 test technicians. Provide guidance, support, and training to the technicians in performing their duties effectively, ensuring that testing activities are conducted accurately and efficiently. Requires a Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related Engineering field and 2 years of experience as a Test Engineer or related position working on reliability testing. Alternatively, employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical, Automotive or related Engineering field and 5 years of progressive experience in a test engineer or related position working on reliability testing. Experience must include: operating thermal chambers and vibration tables for testing purposes; managing testing activities; analyzing results and maintaining the quality and efficiency of the testing process; interpreting test standards and acceptance criteria to develop appropriate test setups according to the specified standards; and working with the following instrumentation: data recorders, accelerometers, thermocouples, and other transducers.
