Supplier Quality Engineer w/Zoox Inc. (Foster City, CA) Assess the capability of potential suppliers and the manufacturability of new product designs. Assist both Zoox engineering and its suppliers with improving manufacturability. Manage product and process development with suppliers. Improve Zoox supplier quality processes such as assessments, supplier management, part approval, and corrective actions. Create/lead project plan for key strategic/tactical initiatives and drive them to completion. Present ideas, anticipate potential objections and bring parties together to build consensus. Provide advanced assistance to vehicle engineering regarding reviewing and providing feedback on validation. Review prototype and production part quality document submissions from suppliers and provide feedback. Issue corrective action requests to suppliers and provides support with their resolution. Provide support to Manufacturing, Quality, and Vehicle Engineering regarding analysis and disposition of suspect supplier material. Drive continuous improvement throughout the supply base using quality and lean manufacturing tools. Independently and expertly conduct APQP process with their suppliers of complex and non-complex parts and assemblies, including the most critical ones. Utilize quality analysis and control tools such as Process FMEAs, Process Control Plans, SPC or MSA. Work with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing. Utilize Jira and ISO 9000. 30-35% domestic and international travel required. Travel to office in Fremont, CA up to 2-3 times per week. Requires a Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Industrial, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering, or a related engineering field. Requires 3 years of experience in Quality Engineer or Supplier Quality Engineer in the automotive or manufacturing industry. Experience must include the following: leading root cause and continuous improvement initiatives for the manufacturing of automotive parts and systems; performing project management of new product introductions on automotive systems to improve manufacturing quality and efficiency; conducting requirement definition, design review, process failure mode and effects analysis; utilizing quality analysis and control tools such as Process FMEAs, Control Plans, SPC or MSA; working with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing; and utilizing Jira and ISO 9000.
