SFCS is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our Louisville, KY office. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with architects, engineers, interior designers, and planners in a multidisciplinary environment while leading the design of impactful projects across a variety of market sectors.

This opportunity is ideal for an advanced electrical engineering professional who enjoys leading complex building system designs, mentoring team members, and collaborating with clients and project teams to deliver innovative, practical, and code-compliant solutions.

Qualifications


  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required, with the ability to obtain licensure in multiple states.
  • Advanced experience designing electrical systems for commercial, healthcare, senior living, education, government, and institutional facilities.
  • Extensive knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA standards, International Building Code (IBC), and other applicable codes and standards.
  • Experience designing electrical power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low-voltage building systems.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Experience preparing technical specifications and construction documents.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and support the professional development of engineering team members.


Responsibilities


  • Lead the design and coordination of electrical systems for new construction, renovation, and adaptive reuse projects.
  • Collaborate with architects, clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams to develop practical, cost-effective, and code-compliant electrical solutions.
  • Participate in project planning, electrical system selection, feasibility studies, and preliminary cost estimating.
  • Perform field investigations and evaluate existing electrical systems for renovation and reuse.
  • Prepare schematic design, design development, construction documents, technical specifications, and engineering calculations.
  • Develop contract documents utilizing the latest versions of Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Coordinate electrical systems with structural, mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, civil, and architectural disciplines.
  • Provide construction administration services, including shop drawing review, responses to RFIs, site observations, evaluation of proposed changes, and review of contractor cost proposals.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to early career and experienced engineering staff.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, and project stakeholders.
  • Stay current with evolving building codes, technologies, and industry best practices while contributing to continuous improvement within the practice.
  • Willingness and ability to travel periodically in support of project assignments, client meetings, site visits, and collaboration across SFCS offices.
