POSITION OVERVIEW:

Cut and sew fabric to finish blankets and prepare them for shipping.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Cutting fabric into specified sizes
  • Sewing blanket labels and binding
  • Inspecting blankets for quality
  • Preparing packaging for blankets
  • Folding, packaging, tagging, and marking blankets for shipping
  • Recording production numbers
  • Performing all duties following safety rules and regulations
  • Performing other duties as assigned

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Follow verbal and written instructions accurately
  • Work both independently and in teams
  • Basic math skills
  • Seek opportunities to improve personal understanding and capabilities.
  • Cross-train in other areas of yarn manufacturing to adapt to changing needs.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Able to perform fine manipulation of materials, such as fabrics, labels, and threads, with fingers
  • Utilize gross motor skills of the upper body to maneuver materials, such as electric and manual scissors, blankets, and packaging supplies
  • Ability to frequently lift up to 5 pounds and occasionally lift up to 10 pounds, to approximately shoulder height
  • Able to fully extend arms at or below shoulder height to fold blankets to specifications
  • Able to stand and walk for the entire shift
  • Operate industrial sewing machines, utilizing foot pedals

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Prior sewing experience, preferably with industrial sewing machines
  • 2 or more years of production experience
  • Or any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Fast-paced production mill requiring the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)

  • Eight (8)-hour shifts, Monday-Friday, with occasional overtime on Saturday.

Monday-Friday 7:00 am-3:30 pm

The wage increase will be $22.40 after 60 days of probation. Pendleton provides a generous benefits package that includes nine paid holidays. New employees will begin accruing sick and vacation time on their first day.
Health and dental coverage, including family plans, is available for $69.75 monthly. After the probation period, additional benefits, such as vision reimbursement, a 401(k) match, non-occupational short-term disability, and $25,000 in life insurance, become available.
