Golisano Childrens Hospital - Lee Health is seeking a Pediatric Psychologist for our Endocrinology Clinic!

Golisano Children's Hospital of Southwest Florida is a state-of-the-art pediatric facility that delivers vital and lifesaving care for children and their families throughout the region. The 135 bed regional hospital cares for children across five counties and is the only childrens hospital between Tampa and Miami. Golisano provides a variety of specialized services for our communitys children ranging from emergency care to behavioral health, surgery to critical care, orthopedics, cancer treatment, cardiology, and more. It has a 16 bed PICU, 70 bed NICU with 24-hour in-house Neonatology coverage.

Position Information:

Lee Physician Groups Pediatric Behavioral Health at Golisano Childrens Hospital of Southwest Florida is seeking a full-time Pediatric Psychologist for our Pediatric Endocrinology Clinic! The role entails program development of outpatient integrated behavioral health services for children, adolescents, and young adults with endocrine conditions such as pre-diabetes, Type 1 Diabetes, Type 2 Diabetes, healthy weight management, and thyroid disorders. The psychologist will maintain a caseload of outpatients for individual and family therapy. There will also be opportunities to provide short-term outpatient screening, consultation, and intervention in the clinic. Common presenting concerns are co-morbid anxiety and depression, coping/adjustment, adherence, family dynamics, needle phobia, pill swallowing, diet modifications, lifestyle changes, school functioning, and other behavioral health problems that impact quality of life.

Responsibilities

  • Program development
  • Psychosocial screening in the context of medical condition
  • Standardized assessment of cognitive, executive, social, emotional, and/or behavioral functioning
  • Short-term and long-term evidence-based treatment modalities such as Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Behavior Therapy, Systematic Desensitization, etc.
  • Crisis management and safety planning
  • Collaboration and liaison with medical teams and schools

Qualifications

Ph.D. or Psy.D. from an APA accredited doctorate program with completion of an APA accredited internship in child health psychology or pediatric psychology

1-year post-doctoral training under the supervision of a licensed psychologist

At least 1-year experience of program development in an integrated medical clinic for pediatric behavioral health

Strong practice of evidence-based screening, assessment, and treatment including clinical interview, standardized measures, biopsychosocial conceptualization, diagnostic impressions, intervention, and interprofessional care of endocrine conditions

Multicultural training and competencies

Licensed or licensed-eligible in the state of Florida

Lee Physician Groups Pediatric Behavioral Health is comprised of Psychometrists, Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSWs), Licensed Mental Health Counselors (LMHCs), Psychologists, and Psychiatrists with locations in Estero, Fort Myers, and Lehigh Acres. New locations opening in 2025 in Naples and Cape Coral.

The Pediatric Endocrinology Clinic has an interprofessional team of Physicians, Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs), Diabetes Educators, and a Social Worker with offices in Naples, Fort Myers, and Port Charlotte.
