About the Role:

As a Senior Product Designer, you will be responsible for designing and delivering meaningful and impactful experiences for our data operations team, contributing to PitchBook's market success. You will play a critical role in creating exceptional products that enable PitchBook's analysts to deliver high-value data and insights to private and public equity investment professionals. You'll uncover and seize opportunities to improve the data analyst's work experience and efficiency through well-designed, innovative tools that incorporate AI/ML and other emerging technologies.

With your expertise in all aspects of user-centered design, strong business acumen, and analytical skills, you will conduct research and analysis to understand customer needs and behaviors, develop innovative design concepts and product experiences, and leverage traditional and emerging technologies to bring them to life. In this role, you will partner with product and engineering team members through the entire product lifecycle and engage key stakeholders across the organization to ensure alignment and communicate your product experience strategies and solutions.

You will be expected to independently own and deliver the user experience in your product domain while collaborating with other designers and product team members to ensure a cohesive overall customer user experience. You will contribute to the direction and planning of your product domain, helping identify and prioritize the biggest opportunities to support our users and the business, while maintaining a strong sense of product ownership and commitment to its success. You will be an active participant in our design culture, collaborating and supporting other designers, contributing to our evolving design systems and standards, and leading or contributing to critical product design initiatives and programs.

Primary Job Responsibilities:



  • Expertly utilize user centered design and systems thinking skills in your day-to-day work to create solutions for complex data and user workflow challenges while maintaining a highly usable and scalable product experience that aligns with a long term strategic direction
  • Conduct user research and data analysis to understand user needs, behaviors, and motivators that lead to engagement and realization of user and business value
  • Partner with Product Management, and Engineering team members to understand data operations users and their workflows, develop product strategies, detailed requirements and designs, and ensure successful releases that enhance the users' experience and enable their efficiency
  • Identify high-impact user business problems and define the product experience strategy solutions to solve them
  • Develop journey maps, tasks, user flows , and design concepts to inform product strategies, priorities, and solutions that result in a best-in-class workflow experience
  • Translate abstract concepts into simple, elegant, and innovative designs expressed in sketches, diagrams, rapid prototypes, and final design executions
  • Leverage design systems, interaction patterns, and systems thinking to consolidate multiple tools into a unified, adaptable, and scalable platform catering to diverse user groups and needs
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of your design solutions and identify strategies for enhancement and improvement
  • Drive continuous improvement in your work and with your product teams. Seek and find new methods and practices that lead to greater impact and value
  • Contribute to evolving design practices, tools, methods, and the digital maturity of our organization
  • Support the vision and values of the company through role modeling and encouraging desired behaviors
  • Participate in various company initiatives and projects as requested



Skills and Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Digital Design, Human Centered Design, Psychology, or equivalent
  • 5+ years of professional experience in a Product Design/UX role, designing for complex systems, products, or applications with multifaceted use cases, intricate user interactions, or workflows
  • Expert-level knowledge of user-centered design practices and demonstrated experience applying them to deliver end-to-end projects and achieve business and market outcome
  • A portfolio of past work organized into case studies that demonstrate design thinking skills, use of modern design best practices, and ability to create innovative and meaningful experiences that deliver user value and business results
  • A portfolio of past work that demonstrates a high level of design craftsmanship, including concepts, ideation, flows, completed designs, and final deliverables
  • Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate and support design decisions and how they add value to the product
  • Experience conducting qualitative user research and analyzing user data to guide design decisions
  • Experience balancing multiple projects, organizing priorities, and delivering with discipline
  • Experience leveraging and evolving design systems and established interaction patterns to execute the long-term strategic direction of a product
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability for the work you lead and delive
  • Intellectual curiosity, structured thinking, and a collaboration-driven interaction style
  • Humility, enthusiasm, and ability to build relationships, foster trust, and develop shared understanding

Compensation



  • Annual base salary: $146,000-$175,000
  • Target annual bonus percentage: 12%



*Starting pay will be based on several factors and commensurate with qualifications & experience. We also have a location-based compensation structure; there may be different ranges for candidates by location.

Working Conditions:

We believe our business and our culture are strongest when we work together in person. We also know that it's helpful to have some flexibility to work remotely. Most roles work in the office 3+ days/week, and some are expected to work in the office 4-5 days/week. The current expectation for this role is that you are working in the office 3+ days/week and that you are in the office full-time during the training period, for which the length varies by role. During an initial phone screen, the team will discuss expectations for this specific position.

The job conditions for this position are in a standard office setting. Employees in this position use PC and phone on an on-going basis throughout the day. Limited corporate travel may be required to remote offices or other business meetings and events.
