Job Description

12 Week Summer Internship

You must be an Undergraduate Student who will be a Junior or Senior in the Autumn of 2025 to be consider for this program.

The Product Development and Management (PDM) team within the Insurance & Financial Services (I&FS) division of NRECA Department designs and delivers employer-sponsored health care and retirement benefits for our national membership. PDM is seeking a motivated individual to assist with pharmacy-related RFPs, competitive analysis of our pharmacy program, and help with developing a document storage system that all PDM team members can use to access contracts, statements of work, significant presentations, and relevant industry data. Projects include:

  • Participate in the pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) request for proposal project by helping draft the proposal, evaluating proposals, and/or conducting market research.

  • Participate in annual PBM pricing market check.

  • Participate in meetings with the pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) and pharmacy consultant to evaluate trends and program enhancements.

  • Assist in documenting pharmacy plan details and compliance records (e.g., RxDC, CAA, SMMs).

  • Work with PDM team members to define and develop a common storage system for key documents, including contracts, statements of work, significant presentations, relevant industry data, etc. Reorganize data and documents to align with the new system. Modernize the PDM SharePoint site.

  • Research and propose gamification for the summer benefits conference that encourages attendees to engage with onsite vendors. Select conference "giveaway" within a pre-determined budget.

  • Attend and participate in PDM team meetings, where attendees provide business updates and participate in team-building activities.

  • Additional projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Rising college junior or senior with a major in Healthcare Management, Public Health, Business Management or related focus.

  • 3.0 GPA or higher (no academic or corrective action on record); transcripts must be provided

  • Use Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) in the day-to-day tasks.

  • Experience with SharePoint or other common storage tools

  • Operate various office equipment such as personal computer, copier, printer, or other job-related equipment.

  • Learn new systems and processes and quickly incorporate them into the daily work.

  • Apply good judgement related to escalating issues and requesting assistance.

  • Organize and manage time effectively.

  • Pay close attention to detail and review work for quality.

  • Team player with good interpersonal and relationship building skills.

  • Strong communication skills orally and in writing

Preferred Qualifications

  • Interest in employee benefits and product development

  • Understanding of healthcare concepts and delivery

  • Experience using SharePoint, Access, and other common document storage tools
