Job Description

12 Week Summer Internship

You must be an Undergraduate Student who will be a Junior or Senior in the Autumn of 2025 to be consider for this program.

NRECA is a unique national trade association providing advocacy, financial services and business support services to over 900 consumer owned electric cooperatives across the country. The intern will work in the Strategic Program Management (SPM) team in the Insurance & Financial Services (I&FS) department. The SPM team comprises project managers, business analysts, and data analysts who support ongoing business process and technology development projects across I&FS. I&FS manages and administers medical (and other group insurance programs), pension, and 401(k) plans for over 50,000 employees in small electric cooperatives across the United States.

The purpose of this internship is not only to give the candidate real-world experience performing project-related tasks but also to produce practically valuable work that will directly impact the success of projects. We are looking for a self-motivated intern to:

  • Learn new information about health and retirement benefit plans and the systems and processes needed to manage them

  • Develop skills in planning and managing work

  • Interact with business users to capture critical information and perform different types of analysis

  • Create practical work products, like test cases and user stories.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Rising college junior or senior with a major in Business Administration, Information Systems or related focus.

  • 3.0 GPA or higher (no academic or corrective action on record); transcripts must be provided

  • Use Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, MS Teams) in the day-to-day tasks.

  • Experience with SharePoint or other common storage tools

  • Operate various office equipment such as personal computer, copier, printer, or other job-related equipment.

  • Learn new systems and processes and quickly incorporate them into the daily work.

  • Apply good judgement related to escalating issues and requesting assistance.

  • Organize and manage time effectively.

  • Pay close attention to detail and review work for quality.

  • Team player with good interpersonal and relationship building skills.

  • Strong communication skills orally and in writing

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiar with business process mapping

  • Familiar with Jira or other issue tracking software

  • Familiar with using and editing wiki sites

  • Familiar with Agile development process
