Job Description

12 Week Summer Internship

Looking for students in a Graduate Program who have already completed their Undergraduate degree or requirements.

NRECA's Business and Technology Strategies (BTS) department provides valuable research, collaboration, and resources to help America's Electric Cooperatives successfully operate, optimize, and transform their systems and relationships with member-owners in our evolving industry and works with service members and associate members on joint solutions for cooperative and industry leadership.

We are looking for a motivated intern to assist in the development of a web-based interface that seamlessly integrates with Excel worksheets. The ideal candidate will have a passion for software development and an understanding of web technologies. This project will involve creating an intuitive user interface to facilitate the visualization, input, and management of Excel data in a dynamic web environment.

The goal of this project is to convert NRECA's existing DA excel based tool to a web-based tool. The outcome of the project will be a user-friendly web interface that will allow user input through a web interface, process the input at the back-end server and display the output on the webpage.

Key activities include:

  • Design and develop a responsive web interface for working with Excel files

  • Implement functionality to update input data in Excel sheets through web interface and display the results of Excel calculations on a webpage.

  • Ensure user-friendly interaction with Excel files, including data validation and error handling

  • Collaborate with the integrated grid team to align project goals and requirements

  • Test and debug the web application to ensure performance and reliability

Qualifications

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Graduate student who has completed undergraduate degree or requirements in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related focus.

  • Experience with front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

  • Familiarity with back-end technologies, such as Node.js, Django, or Flask, for server-side logic.

  • Understanding of APIs and integrating web applications with file systems.

  • Use Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) in the day-to-day tasks

  • Operate various office equipment such as personal computer, copier, printer, fax machine or other job-related equipment

  • Learn new systems and processes and quickly incorporate them into the daily work

  • Apply good judgement related to escalating issues and requesting assistance

  • Organize and manage time effectively

  • Pay close attention to detail and review work for quality

  • Team player with good interpersonal and relationship building skills
