Summary:

The Device Education Manager will assist the Associate Director of Device Education in proactively identify strategies to support education and generation of data/information to expand the value proposition for Pacira's products. This individual will lead projects focused on deploying tactics which are customized to resolve the customer's unmet needs. The Device Education Manager will align with the field sales personnel to function as a conduit for external stakeholders, including but not limited to, large group practices, new audiences, and educational targets as it relates to key strategic initiatives and customers identified in local territories. Will provide training and education leadership integrating support for the value proposition of Pacira's products.

The Device Education Manager will serve as a training and education liaison between internal Pacira personnel and external customers. Key internal relationships include: , Training, Sales, Medical Affairs, Marketing, National Accounts, Strategic Accounts, and the Sr. Directors, Thought Leader Liaison team. External relationships include but are not limited to: key opinion leaders (KOL's), department directors and system leaders of academic and non-academic institutions, corporate leaders of key group practices, allied health educators, targeted educational organizations and partnerships that can support education of target segments.


Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by an individual assigned to this job. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Lead the external professional education and training for Pacira's portfolio of products with select targets (large accounts, key educational programs, new segments)
  • Delivery of training materials to external customers
  • Execute KOL engagement within key corporate segment.
  • Execute education programs and communications for physicians and other healthcare providers
  • Execute peer-to-peer programs, primarily educational workshops to physicians and other healthcare
  • Establish collaborative support for medical trainers to meet customer needs including, but not limited to, workshops, and peer-peer education.
  • Support planning into congress strategy on a national and regional level.
  • Establish and maintain functional working relationships with selected key corporate customer segments to further educational exchange.
  • Present product and scientific updates to customers as requested using approved material.
  • Ensure effective administrative management of regional and national business as well as operational budgets.
  • Position requires at least 70% travel.

Interaction:

The Device Education Manager supports all departments across Pacira as needed or requested.


Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in life science
  • Minimum three to five years' experience in scientific/medical affairs, clinical education, or training for a pharmaceutical or Device Company. OR experience preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in perioperative, pain and/or anesthesia therapeutic area

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize under pressure.
  • Excellent written and oral English communication skills including public speaking to audiences of all sizes.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with sales and health care professionals.
  • Educate others on use of products and clinical applications.
  • Proven ability to incorporate working knowledge hospital systems including, pharmacy, surgical services (pre-operative, intraoperative and postsurgical care)

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, move between spaces, reach with hands and arms and stoop. This position requires considerable hospital presence and requires the ability to walk and stand for periods of time and to navigate through hospitals, surgical centers, and other healthcare facilities, including ORs.

The employee is regularly required to travel by automobile as well as by airplane and other forms of public transportation. The employee is regularly required to stand for long periods of time (up to several hours straight). The employee will be required to move quickly in OR and other hospital environments.
