Job Description

Summary
The University of Missouri-St. Louis is seeking an Associate Director of Leadership Annual Giving to engage alumni and friends in support of UMSL. The Associate Director of Leadership Annual Giving reports to the Associate Vice Chancellor of Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving and is responsible for the identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors with the capacity to give $1,000 - $10,000 annually. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated, metrics-driven front-line fundraising professional responsible for engaging prospects and soliciting unrestricted support at The Goode Society giving level via a variety of methods including personal visits (in person or virtual), phone, email, social media, and text. Candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of fundraising best practices and have strong interpersonal, donor relations and communications skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of donors with a capacity to give $1000 to $10,000 annually. These donors are recognized as members of The Goode Society.
  • Engages with and conducts one-on-one personal solicitations of donors for annual leadership gifts via personal visits (in person or virtual), phone, email, social media, and text.
  • Meets defined visit and qualification and solicitation goals while working to grow The Goode Society and developing a pipeline for major and planned gifts.
  • Collaborates with alumni staff, gift officers and generates referrals for volunteer leadership, major gifts, and planned gifts as appropriate.
  • Develops a strong understanding of the UMSL Alumni Association's role in championing the University, its mission and priorities.
  • Routinely collaborates with the Director of Annual Giving to implement best practices related to solicitation processes and pipeline development.
  • Provides prompt follow-up to all donor interactions and uses CRM Advance to track all appeals and communications touch-points.
  • Reviews data and pulls reports to utilize for decision making.

Manages solicitations for College/School Advisory Boards and other units across campus as needed.

Routinely collaborates with External and Donor Relations on donor recognition efforts and best practices for The Goode Society.

Supports Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving team in reunion solicitations.

Travels locally and regionally for alumni meetings and activities.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Shift

40 per week with some after-hour meetings/events

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 5 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work collaboratively across the division.
  • Ability to maintain an extremely high level of attention to detail.
  • Demonstrates strategic approach to work with strong commitment to quality, efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Must use good judgement and treat confidential information with care and discretion.
  • Knowledge of philanthropy, volunteer management and effective communications. here to enter preferred qualifications.
Anticipated Hiring Range

Pay commensurate with education and experience.
Hiring Range: $68,000 - $72,000 Annual
Grade: GGS-012
