Job Description

Summary

Assist and support the Production Supervisor in coordinating activities and training of workers in the Production Department.

Responsibilities:

  • Direct workers engaged in production activities to ensure the continuous production of conforming products in the most efficient and safe manner possible.

  • Training of employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, addressing complaints, and resolving problems in the absence of the department supervisor.

  • Works at different workstations throughout as production needs require.

  • Read, interpret, and follow basic blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, weld symbols, bills of materials, and other written instructions or procedures to accurately create equipment and products.

  • Utilize handheld tools such as handheld screw guns, drill guns, and grinders.

  • Operate calipers, weld gauges, tape measures, and other welding tools.

  • Rework and/or repair welded parts and products according to engineering specification changes.

  • Manage the operation of all types of machines and work to ensure that they are well-maintained.

  • Operation of lifting devices as needed.

  • Inspects cylinders for visual defects.

  • Tests cylinders for structural defects.

  • Monitor the finished products obtained to ensure the quality conforms to the specifications.

  • Looks for opportunities to get involved in safety, environmental, process changes and overall improvement efforts.

  • Follows all EHS guidelines and applicable procedures.

  • Read, understand, and follow the Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and EHS Work Instructions.

  • Report any unsafe conditions or incidents in a timely manner to their supervisor or any member of management.

  • Shut down process if unsafe.

  • Follow proper machine shutdown procedures.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Assist with overseeing the employees in the production departments. Carry out supervisory responsibilities, when necessary, in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. This includes but it not limited to: shift reporting, manning reports, disciplinary action, and communicating with leadership.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  1. Must possess ASME welding certification.

  1. Must possess in-house forklift certification.

  1. Ability to obtain Manchester Tank's lockout/tagout certification.

  1. Must be dependable and self-motivated.

  1. Must possess good communication skills.

  1. Be able to contribute to and support the existence of a positive work environment.

  1. Can pay attention to the operations of the machinery.

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 1-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and

  • Comfortable using a PC with computer software packages, including Microsoft Office and Excel, and communicating effectively via email and phone frequently.

  • Must attend, complete, and implement required in-house training.

  • Operate a forklift, pallet jack and other warehouse equipment.

Language Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, blueprints, tape measures,

    operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers.

    the assistance of other staff or mechanical devices.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, and depth

    perception.

  • Be willing to work overtime when required at times due to production demands and

    availability of material.

Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. There is a high noise level throughout the plant and hearing protection must always be worn during production. Wearing other proper protective equipment including metatarsal safety shoes and eye protection is always required while in the plant during production.
