Responsibilities

Job Summary
The Child Care Health Consultant - R.N. is responsible and accountable for observing the Lincoln Learning Center (LLC) program practices and health policies, to ensure health promotion and prevention of infection and injury. Responsible for senior care for the Adult Day Health Care (ADHC) in the absence of the ADHC assigned RN. Demonstrated skills in Child and Adult Assessment and education.
  • Utilizes appropriate nursing assessment for child and geriatric individuals who present at Lincoln Learning Center.
    Demonstrates an awareness of standards of care and the provision of services in a school setting as well as in the community setting using competent clinical judgment.
    Performs observations in classrooms to assist the teachers on development assessments of children at the Lincoln Learning Center.
    Assists with ADHC program in the absence of the ADHC RN.
    Focus on assessment and psychosocial health status of the children and seniors.
    Coordinates appropriate referrals to other healthcare providers, i.e. Physicians or medical clinics for both populations.
    Advocates for families, parents and the teaching staff to get the best information to provide services.
  • Provides consultation and education at Lincoln Learning Center.
    Develops educational topics for staff and parents focusing on health and safety.
    Promotes healthy living lifestyle for families through education and collaboration with other Desert Mission services.
    Provides assistance with dental screenings and immunization updates to be in compliance with regulations.
    Addressess physical, social-emotional, nutritional and oral health care including the exclusion of ill children.
    Addressess the routine health screenings with families and health care providers to meet the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) requirements.
    Maintains nursing notes in children's files as necessary and coordinates family conferences on a routine basis for children with health care concerns such as diabetics, hearing or behavioral challenges.
  • Coordinates Dental and Developmental Screenings for the children, as well as, tracks immunization history of children.
    Assesses the physical location and coordinates with staff and other Desert Mission Programs.
    Assists with or develops posters/flyers, etc. for the facility regarding screening times and dates.
    Develops education material/information.
    Coordinates on- going scheduling of screening times and dates with the director.
    Assists with the coodination of health fairs with Network and Desert Mission programs as needed.
    Acts as liason for LLC by assisting Arizona Literacy & Learning Center (ALLC) with calls to families of children who are referred for followup.
    Ensures that children's immunization histories are up to date and filed with Maricopa County Health Department.
  • Maintains equipment and educational material.
    Cleans and maintains necessary equipment for clinics and use by children.
    Alerts director of equipment needs or replacement.
    Maintains inventory for all first aid kits at ADHC and LLC.
    Provides training on regulatory issues and compliance for ADHC and LLC.
    Reviews menus with Food Service Coordinator to meet Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) and sound nutritional choices for children and seniors.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education
Other Graduated from an accredited nursing program NLN/CCNE institution. Required

Experience
1 to 2 years experience Required

Basic Life Support (BLS) Basic Cardiac Life Support Upon Hire Required
Registered Nurse (RN) State And/Or Compact State Licensure Current Arizona or current compact state RN license in good standing Upon Hire Required
