QC Technician

Under limited direction of the QC Manager, the QC Technician provides quality control field testing on soil samples, hot mix asphalt, and concrete materials at various highway and bridge projects located throughout the U.S. This position requires up to 100% travel throughout the areas in which we operate.

  • Read and understand plans and specifications; including submitted mix designs
  • Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment
  • Perform random sampling in the field
  • Prepare samples for testing
  • Test sample materials according to specifications and key elements, to include: splitting samples, washing samples, drying samples and sieving the samples according to establish proper QC procedures.
  • Properly document sample results
  • Proper application and communication of test results
  • Preparation of field charts
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Setting objectives for quality assurance compliance for achieving the targets
  • Assessing the product specifications and meeting customer requirements
  • Understanding, assessing, and performing the tests and procedures
  • Preparing reports regarding the progress and requirements to the management team

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Thorough understanding of quality control testing methods for soil, asphalt, and cement materials; extensive hands-on testing experience
  • Previous heavy highway and bridge experience is preferred.

Education Requirements & Certification Requirements

  • QC Certification in Soil, HMA, Concrete Field and Concrete laboratory classes

Required Work Experience

  • 5-10 years' current experience directly related to Quality Control Field and Lab testing of soil, asphalt, and cement.
