Department Overview

PG&E's Business Finance and Planning team provides critical financial support to its operational business partners within the company. This support includes: financial analysis; budgeting, planning and forecasting; monitoring, controlling and accounting; operational performance reporting and analysis; and strategic planning and analysis. These services are critical to achieving the company's strategic, operational and financial objectives.

The Business Finance and Planning department provides a unique environment for energized and talented finance professionals to engage in the business as valued functional advisors, make meaningful contributions to the direction of a dynamic business, and be actively developed and recognized.

This role in particular will be within the Business Finance and Planning team supporting the Electric portfolio investment planning financial activities and processes.

Position Summary

In this highly visible role, you will support the strategic and technical financial planning of PG&E's largest portfolio of work, with an annual budget of approximately $10 billion.

You will support Electric's annual and multi-year Investment Planning (IP) and Business Plan Deployment (BPD) efforts, oversee and drive meaningful improvements within the planning processes, tools and systems, and provide valuable analysis and insight on special initiatives and ad hoc financial requests. You are expected to act as the Business Finance subject matter expert (SME) for our IP and functional partners on financial data management, tools and systems used to produce our annual and multi-year plans. You will participate in Executive-level and cross-departmental forums, support the IP and BPD leadership review materials and may serve on several cross-functional initiatives helping shape the financial and operational strategy for the Electric portfolio.

The position will report directly to a Business Finance Sr. Manager, partner with a Principal level analyst, work alongside a dedicated team of individuals supporting the overall Investment/Integrated Planning and Regulatory Filings, and will partner closely with Business Finance leadership, Electric's Investment Planning organization, regulatory and corporate BPD and technical planning teams.

The role is hybrid working from your remote office and in-person at the Oakland General Office 1-2 weekly, on average, based on business needs and company requirements.

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of thejob posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will bebased on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience,market value, geographic location, and internal equity.Although we estimatethe successful candidate hiredinto this rolewill beplaced between the entry point and the middle of the range, the decisionwill be made on a case-by-casebasis related tothese factors.This job is also eligible to participate inPG&E's discretionary incentive compensation programs.

A reasonable salary range is:

Bay Area Minimum: $114,000

Bay Area Maximum: $182,000

Job Responsibilities

  • Investment Planning: Support all financial related items in the Electric investment plan to ensure current year financial decision making, annual risk-based prioritization and multi-year investment planning strategies are all in sync. This will include helping develop new processes and tools within Business Finance and within the Investment Planning organizations. Act as the finance subject matter expert (SME) for all financial data and the interface between investment planning and core SAP systems.
  • Business Plan Deployment: Support the overall Finance processes and own the deliverables for the Electric Business Plan Deployment process (formerly "S1/S2"). Effectively communicate and coordinate the timelines, material and meetings with Business Finance, Regulatory, Corporate Planning, LOB support organizations and LOB leadership.
  • PCC / Order Detail Planning: Act as the lead for the overall Provider Cost Center (PCC) / Headcount and Order Detail Planning (ODP) processes. This will require developing the overall calendar / tactical implementation plan, determining which tools/processes to build or leverage, and providing guidance to all analysts and partner stakeholder groups. Train new and existing team members on processes, best practices and tools for successful planning.
  • Regulatory: Closely partner with others to coordinate our Investment Planning/Business Plan Deployment with all regulatory filings (GRC, TO, CEMA, WMP, RAMP etc...), including understanding revenue / recoverability impacts.

General Team Responsibilities:

  • Process Improvement: Identify, and evaluate key processes for opportunities in effectiveness, control, and efficiency, and recommend and implement improvements.
  • Tools: Provide active engagement on the evaluation, design, and use of our critical financial toolset, especially they relate to Integrated Planning and Regulatory filings.
  • Governance: Implement and maintain functional governance standards, process documentation, training materials and provide feedback on areas of opportunity.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • 5 years of relevant work experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Business, Finance, Accounting, Engineering or other quantitative discipline or equivalent work experience

Desired:

  • Master's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Engineering or related field
  • Working knowledge of SAP R3, SAP Business Objects/Analysis for Office, Power BI, and/or Copperleaf
  • PG&E or utility industry investment planning experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; experience presenting at executive level
  • Excellent PowerPoint / visual presentation skills
  • Intellectual curiosity, and relentless continuous improvement
  • Strong Excel modeling skills
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and overhead allocation models
  • Six Sigma / Lean experience
  • Ability to present complex data and findings to internal audiences
  • Ability to apply knowledge and skill to resolve complex problems
