Job Summary:
The Director, Clinical Operations, oversees and directs the strategic integration, facilitation and development of operational best practices and the coordination of clinical, patient satisfaction, Associate engagement, and quality initiatives of the Hospitals within Mary Washington Healthcare (MWHC). The Director is expected to be decisive, collaborative, and encourage a culture of accountability. Utilizing guidelines, proven best practices, and research, the Director develops an environment that promotes excellence in all organizational priorities. The incumbent of this position will incorporate data and information to continually improve operations and will maintain fiscal viability while striving for optimal efficiency and productivity of all resources.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

- Partners with leadership in the development of staffing plans and sets related goals. Develops recruitment and retention programs to achieve these goals. Ensures efficient program execution; reviews and makes changes as necessary.
- Participates in the development, implementation, and maintenance of the hospital quality, safety and experience program. Evaluates services rendered, quality improvement, innovation, audit of data records, and patient visits; prepares recommendations.
- Participates in reviews as needed to support resolution of customer satisfaction and quality issues.
- Collaborates with the Administrator and utilizes the performance improvement process to identify opportunities for improving outcomes in operations, experience, and engagement.
- Partners with Physician Leadership to develop and maintain strong operational programs.
- Communicates with staff through participation in scheduled staff meetings and involvement on hospital committees. Communicates and share updates with MWHC senior leadership.
- Directs and reviews quality orientation and educational programs to promote staff training and development. Makes recommendations for changes.
- Recommends and participates in the development of new clinical operation programs for expansion of care services.
- Maintains professional competencies by attending educational programs and participating in professional organizations. Serves as a representative of MWHC.
- Ensures performance planning, coaching, and evaluation occurs; develops Associates using performance management. Provides feedback and sets clear expectations.
- Develops and implements an operational budget which optimizes cost effectiveness, service and quality.
- Works in collaboration with all teams to ensure Tier One Goals are met. Develops plans to achieve Tier One Goals.
- Ensures optimization of services to ensure we receive all reimbursement for Quality, Safety and Service programs through third party payors and CMS.
- Works in collaboration with all teams to ensure compliance with all State and Federal guidelines for Hospital compliance and Joint Commission compliance.
- In collaboration with the Administrator, maintains knowledge of regulatory requirements related to the service and develops methodologies to review and ensure compliance.
- Maintains professional competencies by attending educational programs, participating in professional organizations, and maintaining certification.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in a related field is required; Master's preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a management capacity is required.
- A minimum of five years of experience in a related field is required. Clinical experience preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency in verbal and written communication.
- Experience with Microsoft Office and related programs required.
- Demonstrated collaboration with physicians, staff and MWHC Associates.
