Under the direction of the Director of Medical Records, the Health Record Analyst performs admission processing; retrieves and delivers medical records to the units; analyzes and reviews records for completeness; assembles records; coordinates the follow-up on deficient/delinquent hospital discharge records; and coordinates the transcription function between the transcription vendor and the H.I.M. department.


Qualifications

Education/Job Experience/Certification:

  • HS diploma/GED required; Associates Degree preferred
  • Classes/training in medical terminology
  • At least two (2) years' work experience in a Health Information Management Department where job duties/responsibilities included experience with medical record admission/discharge processing, incomplete chart tracking systems and transcription services preferred

Special Knowledge and Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of ICD-10-CM coding, familiarity with DSM 5 coding.
  • Knowledge of in-house processing systems
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality
  • Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills required.
  • Must type 40 WPM.
  • Is open and respectful of cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of clients and is willing and competent to work with a diverse client population.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and a part of a high functioning team.
  • Experience and ability to use computers for data entry, communication and report writing
  • Knowledge of all code procedures with the ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
