Overview
Cardiovascular Technologist Lead UnityPoint Health - Allen Shift: Full-time; 1st shift Benefits Eligible Performs various roles in the Cath Lab setting safely and sufficiently including but not limited to: primary assistant to the Cardiologist at the sterile table, and secondary circulating and monitoring. As a Lead, this position works closely with the department manager on the advancement of system/facility initiatives, acts as a primary resource for supply chain within the department, participates in the onboarding of new staff, and completes other tasks deemed appropriate by the department leadership. Responsibilities
- Performs and provides procedural support in various roles within the Cath Lab.
- Maintain compliance and documentation with tissue log within electronic health record.
- Promotes the development, preparation, implementation and attainment of departmental goals, policies, and projects.
- Communicates with the department leaders as necessary when problems or unusual circumstances arise and documents as necessary.
- Orders supplies needed in the department to maintain efficient operations.
- Supply management. Monthly outdates and vendor liaison.
- Monitors recalls of supplies and functionality of equipment.
- Acts as the primary educational resource for staff in the department and works with a variety of vendors to set up educational in-services as well as on-site training.
- Charge capture and reconciliation. Monitor and help manage high dollar work que.
- Electronic record report and data management.
- Radiology/PACs administration support. Initial contact for troubleshooting issues that arise with cardiovascular imaging system.
- Understands and adheres to all safety practices (ALARA) while performing duties to minimize any risk of injury and/or exposure to unnecessary ionizing radiation.
- Maintains knowledge of patient equipment and therapeutic modalities utilized in the Catheterization Lab.
- Educational in-service coordination and competency verification in conjunction with department leadership.
- Ability to provides pre-, intra- and/or post-procedure education for diagnostic and interventional procedures.
- Possesses/exhibits strong EKG rhythm interpretation skills.
- Provides leadership in emergent situations.
- Establishes a climate of mutual respect and trust.
- Maintains ability to perform in an assertive yet supportive manner when functioning with physicians in the procedural setting.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited radiologic science program that is recognized by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
- At least 1 year of previous Cath Lab experience
- Holds Permit-to-Practice in radiology in the state of Iowa
- Certified and holds current registration with the A.R.R.T. as a Radiologic Technologist
Preferred:
- Previous leadership experience
- EPIC EMR system experience
- Apollo, Epic and FUJI Documentation knowledge
- Current certification as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
