Washington Metro Oasis (WMO) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of older adults through lifelong learning, meaningful volunteer opportunities, and social engagement. Operating as a core element of the Community Health and Wellness division, our mission is to foster personal growth, build community, and promote active, engaged aging for older adults in the Washington, DC metro area.

Job Responsibilities:

The Director of Washington Metro Oasis (also known as WMO) is a dynamic and passionate leader who inspires staff, volunteers, and community stakeholders in creating a vibrant, inclusive environment for older adults to thrive. This role is pivotal in advancing WMO's to promote healthy aging in alignment with Johns Hopkins Medicine's, National Capital Region health priorities.

The Program Director is responsible for driving the organization's growth, sustainability, and long-term strategic planning. Key responsibilities include integrating WMO's initiatives within the broader National Capital Region (NCR), leading fundraising initiatives, cultivating sponsorships, and securing diverse streams of philanthropic support. The Director will forge meaningful partnerships with community stakeholders to expand WMO's reach and amplify its measurable impact for healthy aging and wellbeing.

Role Accountabilities Include:



  • Lead strategic planning and implementation of WMO programs and initiatives, ensuring alignment with Johns Hopkins Medicine and Oasis Institute priorities.
  • Oversee high-quality, cost-effective programming in arts, humanities, health, and technology to serve a diverse older adult population.
  • Cultivate and maintain strategic partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to expand program reach and impact.
  • Represent WMO at system and community meetings to build awareness and foster collaboration.
  • Manage operations including budgeting, financial planning, and program administration to ensure sustainability and growth.
  • Spearhead fundraising efforts, including grant writing, donor cultivation, and sponsorship acquisition, while ensuring compliance with financial and reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate on marketing and communication strategies to enhance visibility and engagement across the National Capital Region.
  • Ensure program quality and compliance with Oasis Institute standards and oversee data reporting for regulatory and strategic initiatives.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive organizational culture that supports innovation, staff development, and participant engagement.
  • Provides strategic leadership in human resource management by overseeing recruitment, onboarding, training, performance development, and team engagement. Establishes clear expectations, evaluates contributions, and fosters a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Model and support leadership rounding and staff recognition practices to foster continuous improvement and morale.
  • Manage special events and recognition activities for key sponsors and community partners.
  • Evaluate financial feasibility of new revenue opportunities and ensure systems are in place for fee collection.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned to support organizational goals.


Qualifications:



  • Bachelor of Arts or Science degree in business administration, nonprofit management, healthcare management, human relations or a related field from an accredited four-year college is required.
  • One year of relevant education may be substituted for one year of required work experience or one year of relevant professional-level work experience may be substituted for one year of required education.
  • Master's degree preferred. CPA Preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a relevant field, with a proven record of accomplishment of developing partnerships, successfully fostering and enhancing relationships within the aging services sectors.
  • Proven expertise in fundraising, including experience in securing and managing donations, grants, and other sources of funding.
  • Passion for and experience working with older adults in areas such as lifelong learning, health and wellness, and meaningful volunteer opportunities is highly desirable.


Salary Range: $105,684 - $135,000 per year. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
