Overview

The Mechanic role at Albuquerque Ambulance Service, a part of Presbyterian Healthcare Services, is responsible for conducting routine and preventive maintenance on emergency vehicles to ensure safe and reliable patient transport. This role involves adherence to established maintenance programs and priority schedules under the guidance of the Fleet Manager.

Shift Differentials:

    $1.75/hr Night Differential, earned on eligible night hours, stacks on base rate
  • $1.50/hr Weekend Differential, earned on eligible weekend hours, stacks on base rate

Shift Schedule:

  • Training Tuesday-Friday 0700-1700, then either 4 10hr shifts in Days or 5 8hr shifts in Days

Here at AAS, a Mechanic has the unique opportunity to not only work on some of the newest ambulances and equipment available, but also are able to enjoy the freedom of coming up with unique solutions to meet the demands of a high call volume EMS agency. Along with regular maintenance we assist with finding ways to house, protect, and maintain some of the latest equipment in EMS.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Trade or vocational school in diesel or gasoline engine repair preferred.
  • One or more years of relevant work experience in gas automotive and/or diesel mechanical repair is required.
  • Must have tools to service gas engines, such as V-6, V-8, and V-10.


Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and routine maintenance tasks to maintain the safety and reliability of emergency vehicles.
  • Service vehicles according to the maintenance program outlined by the Fleet Manager.
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining a priority schedule for routine maintenance and repairs.
  • Utilize engine analyzers for diagnostic purposes.
  • Attend department staff meetings as determined by the Fleet Manager.
