Reporting to the Vice President, Phosphate Operations, the General Manger, White Springs is responsible for strategic planning, management, and leadership of safe, reliable and efficient operations of the Swift Creek and Suwanee River Complex's in the State of Florida, United States.
The General Manager ensures structuring all businesses and related activities in partnership with Nitrogen & Phosphate executive leadership team, cash generation and control, gain in market share through effective and efficient operations, institutional matters, priorities assessment, resources allocation, including sustaining capital and investment needs.
This position is located in White Springs, Florida
Accountability:
Responsible for a complex and dynamic organization that operates 2 plants and one mine with multiple work faces with approximately 500 - 600 employees and contractors.
What you will do:
- This position serves as a key member of the PLT (Phosphate Leadership Team) that sets strategic direction and formulates both long and short-range plans, policies, programs, and objectives.
- Implements and sustains behavioral based safety program and establishes safety standards and organizational climate conducive to safe work performance.
- Develops, plans, and allocates resources to sustain sound community and governmental relations to foster a positive local public image for the company.
- Develops and implements strategic plans to produce product mix and quantities to meet sales requirements within established specifications.
- Ensures that all environmental regulatory obligations are met; allocates resources, submits capital projects request, etc. to achieve environmental stewardship objectives.
- Selects, develops, motivates, and recognizes the key managerial staff capable of obtaining maximum results in assigned areas, and for providing a continuum of technical and managerial talent for the future.
- Directs the maintenance and engineering efforts to attain optimum reliability and efficiency of the production units.
- Develops and recommends production strategies, together with capital and operating budget requirements to optimize short and long-range production capabilities while minimizing exposure to economic and environmental risks.
- Directs technical effort to identify potential process and reliability improvements. Justify potential projects through cost analysis (ROI) and request capital resources.
- Identifies risks to the business and initiate corrective actions to eliminate or minimize risk.
- Meets with key staff to assure a coordinated management effort in the development and execution of the operations long-range objectives in the areas of facilities and production planning, materials procurement coordination, and human resource allocation.
- Keep continuous improvement at the forefront of the management team's focus and ensure initiatives remain on track.
- Ensures the implementation of manufacturing technologies and control systems, which will improve productivity and product quality, enhance schedule and cost effectiveness, and contribute to overall phosphate division's profitability.
- Formulates and recommend an operations budget to Management and upon approval, monitor deviations and initiate corrective action to control costs.
- Ensures the successful integration and operation of any new mining areas and/or production facilities to provide desired capacity to contribute to achievement of total site's operational objectives.
- Performs administrative support to other plant executives to include handling information of a confidential nature.
- Issue and interpret operating policies and procedures and administrative plans to all employee levels.
- Keeps the Vice President of Nutrien Phosphate informed about significant issues and developments around safety, reliability, budget, capital spend targets that might influence the achievement of overall growth and profit objectives.
- Develops goodwill within the community by building strong relationships through engagement and transparency.
- Promote employee participation in activities and charitable causes and oversee philanthropic support through community investment.
What you will bring:
- Minimum of BS in Engineering degree (ChE, ME preferred) from an accredited university or related operations experience.
- 10-15 years of experience in fertilizer, chemical, Petro-chemical or related continuous process operations.
- Knowledge of mining and phosphate chemical processes is required.
