Pay

$17.47 - $21.14 / hour, depending on experience and qualifications

Schedule

Flexible hours (days and hours may vary and student's school schedule will be considered)

On-site

This intern will be expected to work approximately 15 to 20 hours per week and up to 40 hours per week when school is not in session.

Job Summary

McKee Foods is seeking a Truck Technician to join our Fleet Maintenance team. The purpose of an internship at McKee Foods Transportation is to provide real-world experience for the student while generating productive work that contributes to our business objectives. The intern will utilize and supplement the knowledge they have gained in school to accomplish assigned tasks and projects. The assigned work will provide the intern with relevant work experience producing insight into their field of study or future career opportunities.

  • This internship will focus on diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy-duty trucks, trailers, yard tractors, cars, pickups, vans, and garage equipment, working closely with experienced Truck Technicians
  • Learn from the best as you assist our Fleet Maintenance Group in all phases of projects helping to ensure cost, schedule and performance objectives are successfully met
  • Participate in Core Problem Solving of equipment/process related issues; assist with troubleshooting and solution implementation

Required Qualifications

  • Maintain good academic standing
  • Currently enrolled in, or a recent graduate (within the last 6 months) of an associate's degree or certification program in a related technical field
  • Strong recommendation from a trade school faculty member
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing business needs and priorities
  • High level of personal integrity and professionalism
  • Willingness and ability to operate or learn to operate various equipment, machines, and hand tools
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Minimum age of 18
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Own a basic tool set relevant to the trade

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior work experience in the trades listed above
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
