Primary Duties 1. Maintains, operates and inspects gas storage fields, purchase stations, transmission lines and measurement and regulator stations in accordance with Federal and state safety regulations and Company standards. 2. Tests, calibrates and performs routine maintenance on gas storage field equipment including the compressor, engine, gas wells, dehydration units and related gas drying equipment. 3. Patrols mains and field lines for leakage and third party damage. Maintains rights-of-way to minimize damage due to erosion and clearing for cultivation. 4. Performs line locates and conducts leak surveys. 5. Prepares reports to assist management in coordinating the operation and maintenance of underground gas storage and local production wells and facilities. 6. For gas distribution, may perform service, construction or compliance tasks for distribution operations. 7. Provides technical assistance and training to other employees engaged in similar activities. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE LEVEL: 1. A general educational knowledge normally acquired through a high school diploma or a General Equivalency Diploma (GED) and four years related experience. 2. Completion of the Operator Qualification requirements for Storage Technician KY Division or Gas Storage Technician Storage & Gas Control as applicable. 3. Valid driver's license. COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Requires the ability to communicate with internal and/or external customers in order to obtain and/or provide basic types of factual information. NUMERIC SKILLS: Requires the ability to perform basic addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. COMPUTER SKILLS: Requires basic computer skills for data entry, reference and/or retrieval tasks. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 1. Ability to generate 125-foot pounds of force, pushing and pulling, at a contact point of 70 inches. (Ex: operating valves) 2. Ability to generate 105-foot pounds of vertical, downward force, at a contact point of 70 inches. (Ex: operating valves) 3. Ability to lift and carry 38 pounds. (Ex: lifting and carrying materials or buckets) 4. Ability to ascend/descend 30 rungs on a ladder. 5. Ability to bend, stoop, squat, kneel, and/or crouch. 6. Ability to walk a distance of 500 feet. WORK CONDITIONS: Works in an outdoor environment. Requires frequently performing activities including, but not limited to, stooping, bending, crawling, kneeling, grasping, reaching, climbing and/or lifting objects up to 100 pounds. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Requires the acute sense of sight and hearing (corrected or uncorrected) and strong sense of smell. As a Safety-Sensitive position, pre and post-employment screenings, including but not limited to drug testing as outlined by the Department of Transportation (DOT) and Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration(PHMSA), and motor vehicle record (MVR) background checks are required.
