SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Laboratory technician located in the Elastomer Innovation Center (EIC) for Parker's Hose Product Division. Position requires ability to conduct laboratory testing for materials conformance, new materials development and assisting in root cause analysis troubleshooting elastomeric material issues. Application of time management and multi-tasking skills are required to work on high priority projects for multiple requests within a collaborative team environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Support all test functions for EIC lab by performing tests such as mechanical, rheological, analytical, and accelerated aging according to industry and internal standard practices.
  2. Support prototype mixing process which includes weighing raw materials; internal mixing and milling; and creation of test specimens for physical testing.
  3. Ability to maintain laboratory test equipment by utilizing mechanical and software skills for troubleshooting and third-party accreditation.
  4. Ability to work with general objectives regarding projects and team goals; applies judgment in selecting procedures and techniques which should be applied for given task.
  5. Works collaboratively in a team environment
  6. Need to promote and maintain a safe working environment by sustaining and following all safety standards for lab equipment and test procedures.
  7. Creation of standard test procedures and new test as dictated by organizational needs.

DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC:

  • Continuous personal improvement through training in classes and work experiences.
  • Participate in multi-functional teams (i.e., Natural High-Performance Teams), and work with groups to initiate, and implement programs such as Lean Manufacturing and 5-S.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School diploma or GEDSkills & Qualifications
  • Understanding of technical documentation and specifications
  • Basic mechanical and computer skills
  • Ability to learn and multi-task
  • Proven ability to work with effectively with others in a team environment
  • Good critical thinking
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience with Excel, Microsoft Word and Outlook
