Senior Financial Advisor, under the direction of The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center (OSUCCC) Finance Manager, ensures compliance with monthly reconciliation and audit standards for the entire Comprehensive Cancer Center. Additionally, the Senior Financial advisor manages approximately 65 accounts for senior-level faculty members across the Comprehensive Cancer Center

Responsibilities Include:

  • Responsible for maintaining the Comprehensive Cancer Center Monthly Reconciliation checklist

  • Performs report review of Monthly reconciliation reports, including but not limited to; unposted cash, policy exceptions and notifies Finance Manager or Director Of potential problems

  • Monitors accounting practices assuring compliance with auditing standards

  • Develops and executes the process for monthly encumbrances postings and leads the process for the monthly encumbrance journal.

  • Performs internal controls audits on other CCC Funds

  • Provides financial expertise for other staff and areas within the OSUCCC

  • Creates Business plans for research investments and helps improve and maintain CCC long Range Financial Plan

  • Serves as Training Lead for the entire Finance Department

  • Performs monthly required financial reconciliations, account analysis and reviews on assigned group of funds

  • Assists Finance Manager with development of Internal Audit

  • Assists Finance Manager with development of the annual budget

  • Prepares and presents monthly reports and provides financial statements to the OSUCCC Finance Manager, Senior Administrative Staff and Faculty

  • Reviews OSUCCC Contracts, Letters of Offer, and MOUs to appropriately provide financial resources to Faculty and Staff

  • Completes budget to actual data on a monthly, quarterly, and annual bases for fund financial review and forecasting.

Minimum Education Required

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or Finance or equivalent combination of education and experience with a Major in accounting or finance

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Advanced degree in relevant field may be desirable. 6 years of relevant experience required. 8-12 years of relevant experience preferred.

  • Previous supervisory experience a 'plus.'

  • Knowledge of general ledger is required; requires accounting, policy, and finance knowledge.

  • Needs to demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, and exhibit strong communication skills with all levels of management within the organization, and with internal and external clients

  • Microsoft excel experience strong analytical skills, computer skills, and the ability to manage time efficiently to complete multiple tasks with competing deadlines

  • Should possess analytical and problem-solving skills and demonstrate the ability to work independently and take initiative for process improvement

  • Requires successful completion of a background check. Candidate may be required to complete a pre-employment physical, including a drug screen
