This position supports the department mission through the functions of specimen receipt, accessioning, preparation and processing for analysis on various body fluids and tissues. Functions also include equipment maintenance, supply inventory and ordering, clerical duties and quality assurance in the pre-analytical area of the clinical laboratory. - Knowledge of computer systems such as EMR, email, hospital Incident Reporting system (e.g., RL Solutions), and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of LIS sufficient to perform specimen inquiry and other functions (batching, test cancellation, printing orders and specimen labels, etc.).
- Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously and to exercise appropriate judgment when setting priorities.
- Ability complete work to meet required turnaround times, suspense dates and deadlines.
- Adequate familiarity with medical terminology (test names, specimen types, patient diagnoses,etc.)
- Possess effective verbal communication skills to answer questions from internal and external customers in clear and concise manner.
- Possess written communication skills to write clear emails, EMR messages, and reports and to convey information appropriately.

Department Overview The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is a large, diverse multi-site department whose mission is to create a healthier world through bold innovation in patient care, population health, education, technology and research.
