The Real Estate Paralegal will be responsible for assisting with all aspects of reviewing lease and real estate related documents. This person will perform various roles within the Asset Management department related to a wide range of real estate and leasing transactions.

Job Description:

The Real Estate Paralegal will perform all or some of the following duties & responsibilities:

Duties:

  • Work closely with Franchisees, Franchise Administration, and the Real Estate Counsel to ensure all lease documents and real estate agreements are properly processed, cross-referenced and abstracted.

  • Review, markup and prepare Estoppel Certificates and SNDAs for execution, including conducting review and due diligence background research for Estoppel Certificates and SNDAs.

  • Initiate research of lease-related defaults and/or issues, assess proper course of action and escalate and/or consult with Real Estate Counsel to bring to resolution.

  • Research and interpret lease language and provide information and guidance related to real estate and lease matters, as requested by cross-functional business partners.

  • Draft, proof and finalize correspondence including sending out all outgoing mail, correspondence and other documents, including Notifications of Default, Extension Option Exercise and other lease-related correspondence.

  • Act as liaison and facilitate communication and information exchange with external and internal business partners.

  • File, fax, scan, copy, and distribute lease documents and other correspondence.

  • Manage and maintain accurate electronic filing system of all real estate documents.

Minimum Requirements/Knowledge/Skills

  • Applicable Legal or Paralegal experience

  • Restaurant/Specialty Leasing background, a plus

  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects

  • Thorough knowledge of legal issues related to commercial leasing

  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude

  • Detail-oriented, with strong organizational, problem-solving and administrative skills

  • Flexible and ability to work in a cross-functional team environment

  • Ability to interact on a professional level with internal and external business partners

  • Ability to work independently, and follow through to completion projects in a timely and efficient manner

  • Willing to learn and be open to suggestions/ideas to improve productive and efficiency

  • Self-starter with willingness to further develop skills as paralegal and business person

  • Excellent communication (speaking, writing and listening) skills.

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Base Pay: $34/hr
