JOB TITLE:

Library Assistant, Senior - Interlibrary Loan, User Services Division, UW Libraries

JOB PURPOSE:

Perform duties in the University of Wyoming Interlibrary Loan office requiring a working knowledge of library science techniques and practices. Responsibilities include processing borrowing and lending requests for UW Libraries' material, the packaging, shipping, and receiving of said material, assisting patrons and co-workers, answering phone, managing department inbox, and other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Process Interlibrary Loan requests. Check availability for incoming and outgoing requests. Use electronic resources, including library and worldwide catalogs, to fill requests. Pull loans from shelves for shipment and/or scanning and electronic delivery.
  • Send loans out daily. Check loans out to borrowing library. Label and box loans for shipment. Ship loans out using a dedicated FedEx shipping program.
  • Receive loans daily. Check loans in from lending libraries. Label loans for circulation and route to appropriate UW library hold shelf.

SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Answer phone and department email.
  • Assist patrons and co-workers.
  • Participate in special projects as assigned.

REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY:

This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Associate's degree or equivalent combination of work and experience

Experience: 1-year work-related experience in a library, office, or similar setting

Required licensure, certification, registration or other requirements: None

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience working in a library.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience with analysis and problem identification.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Experience using an integrated library system.
