Job Description

Location: Remote with intermittent travel throughout US; ideally based within 2 hrs of Houston, TX

Job Type: Co-Op/Internship, Full time (40h/week)

Term: 4-12 Months depending upon availability

Position Overview:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Engineering Co-Op to join our Reliability Team within a dynamic chemical manufacturing environment. This role will support key initiatives focused on mechanical integrity programs, equipment reliability, and document management systems. The Co-Op will gain valuable hands-on experience by collaborating with engineers, technicians, and other professionals to enhance the performance and safety of our operations.

Key Responsibilities: Document Management Systems:

- Organize, digitize, and maintain critical documentation, including inspection records, maintenance logs, equipment history and engineering drawings.
- Work with engineers and managers to develop a systematic filing system to ensure easy retrieval and secure storage of records.

- Help engineers and software teams to integrate facility equipment data into a mechanical integrity software program

Data Analysis & Reporting:

- Compile and analyze data related to equipment performance, maintenance activities, and inspection results.
- Generate detailed reports summarizing findings and proposed recommendations.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement:

- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including maintenance, production, and engineering, to implement reliability improvements.
- Contribute to ongoing projects aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and reducing downtime.

Mechanical Integrity & Reliability Support:

- Take knowledge acquired in the first four points to assist in the evaluation and analysis of equipment performance to identify trends, potential failures, and improvement opportunities.
- Support the inspection and testing of critical equipment to ensure compliance with industry standards and company policies.

Qualifications: Education:

- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. Ideally in 2nd/3rd year of their respective program.

Minimum GPA: 3.0/4.0

Technical Skills:

- Basic knowledge of mechanical systems and equipment used in chemical or industrial environments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with data analysis tools is a plus.
- Familiarity with engineering drawing standards and document control practices.

Soft Skills:

- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently (remote) as well as work collaboratively with diverse set of personnel on-site or at facilities

Preferred Qualifications:

- Prior internship or co-op experience in reliability, maintenance, or engineering within a manufacturing setting.
- Knowledge of industry standards such as API, ASME, or ISO is a plus. (U-1s, Inspections, etc.)
- Experience with computer-aided design (CAD) software or maintenance management systems is desirable.

-Experience or familiarity with equipment and systems used with a chemical manufacturing environment.

-Excellent command of computer skills including Excel, programming, etc.

-Ideally within 2 hours of Houston, TX for face-to-face meeting with manager.

- Willingness to travel when necessary
