Position Summary:

The Clinical Laboratory Scientist performs routine testing in various areas of the laboratory. Assumes responsibility for the accurate performance and documentation of test results, quality control, maintenance, test validation, and calibration procedures. Works under the supervision of the Administrative Director and Lead Clinical Laboratory Scientist.

Required Qualifications:

Valid Clinical Laboratory Scientist license issued by the State of California Department of Health Services.

• Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
• Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System

Preferred Qualifications:

• Acute care hospital laboratory experience
• Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms

Physical Requirements: 1) Visual and acuity 2) Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination required to perform duties.3) Sitting, standing, and walking are necessary for most tasks. Lifts and carries light loads <25 pounds. Must be able to work effectively in an environment with various electronic and mechanical instruments and a variety of chemicals which can be hazardous if handled
