Manager on Duty

The Manager on Duty will work up to 18 hours per week covering shifts Monday - Thursday 5pm - 9pm, Friday 4pm - 8pm and Saturday 8am - 1pm and/or 1pm - 6pm with a pay rate of $20/hour.

KROC CENTER MISSION

In keeping with the mission of The Salvation Army, The Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center provides facilities, programs and services that strengthen, encourage and enrich children, adults, and seniors through positive life-changing experiences.

SUMMARY/PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The Manager on Duty (MOD) is responsible for providing exceptional customer service experiences to all members and guests of the Kroc. The MOD assumes a leadership role to ensure the security and safety of the facility, staff and all guests of the Kroc and provides support to other staff on duty. The MOD will inform upper management of problem areas and recommendations to improve the services provided.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: This job description should not be interpreted as all inclusive. It is intended to identify the essential functions and requirements of this position.   1. Maintain a physical presence and be available as the primary point of contact for questions and sensitive situations including incidents, accidents, and guest complaints.
  2. Ensure that customers, clients and members are given prompt and courteous service within the established procedures of the Kroc.
  3. Recognize emergencies and respond quickly and effectively. Diffuse volatile situations between members and/or staff.
  4. Enforce all safety rules and regulations.
  5. Conduct a facility walkthrough on a regular, but not predictable, schedule. This should include gender appropriate locker rooms and bathrooms.
  6. Complete accurate daily reports, incident and accident reports. Complete written report of any dangerous or hazardous condition of the facility. Emergency conditions must be brought to the attention of the Director of Operations and/or Officer(s) immediately.
  7. Reports any personnel issues to appropriate supervisor and/or Human Resources, if necessary.
  8. Review security system when necessary, providing documentation for incidents, accidents or other situations requiring verification. This may include written reports and DVD's.



  1. Assist membership services staff with tours when needed.
  2. Maintain knowledge of all programs, facilities and special events.
  3. Ensure rooms are locked and secured when not in use; ensure building is locked and secured at close of business. Monitor access points and hallways.
  4. Be available to work a flexible schedule including weeknights, weekends, and holidays.



MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT: Uses a variety of office equipment including a computer, telephone, fax machine, copiers, printers, kiosk, security camera system and projection machines.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:



  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 2 years of customer service, facilities, or security experience



- OR -



  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.



LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS: First Aid, CPR and AED certification must be obtained within first 60 days of employment.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:



  • Must have command of the English language with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong personnel management skills, including the ability to delegate, motivate, and create a sense of team among the staff.
  • Strong computer skills, including use of Microsoft Office products, e-mail, and Internet.
  • Knowledge of de-escalation and crisis intervention techniques.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures.
  • Ability to maintain a self-motivated and self-directed schedule.
  • Ability to address multiple issues in a timely manner while being responsive and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to interact with co-workers and the public in a positive, professional manner.
  • Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances.
  • Ability to learn and utilize the facility security camera system.

This job is performed in a busy community center environment with areas including a gymnasium, auditorium, aquatics center, and an office environment. The MOD will typically be working at normal room temperature although at some times the facility can become warmer, cooler, or more humid than an office setting. The noise level in this work environment can vary from low to loud.

For other duties of this job, such as outdoor special events and community center activities, the employee may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment at these events is usually moderate to loud.
