DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION

Completes clinical assessments of patients referred to the rehabilitation unit in collaboration with nursing and therapy supervisors, ensuring rehabilitation pre-admission assessments are complete.

Facilitates admissions by responding to referral requests in a timely manner, maintaining effective communication with referral source and providing complete and accurate patient assessment information to the assessment team.

Personally develops referral sources by calling on referring agencies and providers, identifying new referral sources, conducting in-services and arranging and conducting tours.

Maintains positive relationship with referral sources by performing account needs assessment on a regular basis to identify problems and working with referral source to jointly handle complaints, problems and concerns.

Performs personal visits to patients to identify if they qualify for inpatient rehab and to explain rehabilitation expectations for them while on the unit. Shares "Planning for Rehabilitation" information with patient prior to admission.

Builds and monitors community, customer, payer and patient perceptions of Capital Region Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit as a high quality provider of services.

Demonstrates understanding of CMS and other regulatory bodies accrediting standards for Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit related to qualifying for admissions and criteria related to rehab stay Keeps management informed by submitting required reports and results.

Communicates as needed issues related to progress toward goals. Provides an environment conducive to safety for patients, visitors, and staff.

Assesses the risks for safety and implements appropriate precautions. Complies with appropriate and approved safety standards.

Participates in and contributes to the performance improvement process for the department and the institution. Demonstrates understanding of costs and financial support as they relate to quality and efficiency

Assists the Inpatient Rehab Management team in establishing organization volume projections in the annual budget and in establishing allocations for the marketing of Inpatient Rehabilitation Services.

Monitors allocation of resources according to budgetary limitations. Continuously conducts market assessments and develops a comprehensive marketing plan designed to meet budgetary volume projections.

Develops marketing plan by researching referral sources, competition and identifying opportunities to allow for maintenance and growth of the Rehab Unit.

Monitors and reports cost-effectiveness of marketing efforts.

Maintains professional and marketing knowledge by attending workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, participating in professional societies.

Demonstrates appropriate clinical skills for professional licensure according to professional standards.

Provides leadership in strategic planning including identifying opportunities for additional or improved services to address customer needs. Maintains comprehensive working knowledge of the Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit markets including government agencies, major payer groups, key referral sources and competitor's market positioning.

Develops marketing materials with the assistance of the Marketing Department to increase awareness of the Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit.

Increases community awareness of the Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit through media, community in-services, participation in health fairs, etc.

May complete unit/department specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents.

Three (3) years of clinical experience in an inpatient setting.

One of the following:

-Missouri Board of Nursing RN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state RN. When primary state of residency changes, compact state RNs must apply under new state of residency within thirty (30) days, or

-Occupational Therapist (OT) licensure by the Missouri Board of Occupational Therapy, or

-Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) licensure by the Missouri Commission for Speech-Language Pathologists, and Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC) certification from American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), or

-Physical Therapist (PT) licensure by the Missouri Board of Registration for the Healing Arts or PT Compact multi-state privilege. When primary state of residency changes, compact state PTs must apply under new state of residency within thirty (30) days.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met with or without reasonable accommodation. The performance of these physical demands is an essential function of the job. This position is very active and requires ambulating, reaching, and moving objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs. This role also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. This position is in a health care facility open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Rotating shifts as well as holiday and work during inclement weather will be required.
