GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
This is a product development position that also requires emphasis on process development and validation of spark plugs, glow plugs, ignition cable, and ignition systems. The Product Engineer works with Tenneco's customers, manufacturing plants, and suppliers to provide new product technology in the area of ignition systems. The customers for this position include the aftermarket business and our OEM/OES customers. The business situation and individual skills may dictate the method of meeting these responsibilities, but the end result will always be superior customer service and the delivery of new ignition system technology.
The engineer should be capable of evaluating tradeoffs in concept designs using CAD, predictive engineering, value analysis/value engineering, testing, and simultaneous engineering with the manufacturing plants. The engineer needs to follow the project through customer testing and into production. The Product Engineer is responsible to keep up to date with current technology in this field and to identify future opportunities.
The Product Engineer is responsible for providing the necessary information to support designs that can be manufactured cost effectively while meeting customer requirements including performance and durability.

Product Design Engineer 1

|
Be familiar with company resources in the areas of design, analysis, measurement, bench testing, engine testing, & prototyping.
Provide technical reports and/or presentation package to support customer activities as required by OE sales or Marketing.
Work with internal groups to resolve component functional problems.
Develop drawings as necessary and participate in Design FMEA, APQP and DFM as required.
Capable of providing support as requested by the manager.

2-5 years of relevant work experience

Ability to request Finite Element Analysis including interpretation of results (temperature distribution, stresses, fatigue life assessment, etc).

Assist in hiring lower level product engineers.
Capable of providing support as requested by the manager.
