Job Summary

Management of the operations of Respiratory Care across all Corewell Health West region not limited to all activities associated with: patient care, equipment, staffing, budget preparation, education, patient safety, quality monitoring and regulatory agency compliance. The Director is the department leader with 24-hour accountability in the administration of care provided by the various departments. The director assists with direction of staff and operation; directs or assists with planning and managing of activities; develops or assists with formulation of program goals and objectives; develops or assists in the development of related policy incorporating current research and professionally recognized standards; develops or assists in development and implementation of plans for care; interprets and administers pertinent laws; evaluates staff; prepares or assist in preparation of the operating/expense budget; maintains contact with individuals both within and outside of department who might impact on program activities; makes rounds to determine the quality of care; assures optimal quality of care is provided in a safe environment; develops and / or implements effective ongoing programs to measure, assess and improve quality of care, treatment and services delivered to patients; develops productive work teams; intervenes in crisis situations and investigates all unusual incidents; protects human and civil rights of patients and/or clients and staff; compiles data and prepares periodic reports; leads and participates in meetings; responsible for coordinating and ensuring twenty-four hour coverage for CHW (as deemed appropriate for various departments); performs related duties as assigned.

  • Plan for sustained operations, future growth, response to change in technology and patient's needs through Professional

  • Organize the region to optimize staffing both in efficiency and effectiveness, focusing on customer service and staff recruitment and retention

  • Develop and ensure implementation policies and procedures that integrate Process Improvement a non punitive work environment that promotes communication and mentoring of subordinates at all levels

  • Implement change as an opportunity for education, growth and compliance with regulatory agencies

  • Develop Operational and Capital budgets to support CHW's mission, vision and management objectives

  • Maintains personal competence through seminar attendance, literature review, professional organization membership and networking

  • Collaborates with peer groups within departments of oversight, hospital and enterprise. Evaluates, trains and hires staff, and administers disciplinary actions to staff; Focus on staff recruitment and retention.

Qualifications

  • Required Bachelor's Degree related field

  • 3 years of relevant experience Three to five years of clinical experience in related healthcare field Required

  • 5 years of relevant experience of progressively responsible management experience Required

  • LIC-Respiratory Therapist - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required

  • CRT-Respiratory Therapist Registry - NBRC National Board for Respiratory Care Upon Hire required

  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association Upon Hire required Or

  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross Upon Hire required
