DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION Prepare, dispense, and distribute medications. Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, patients, and other pharmacy employees. Provide on-the-job training to new personnel and assist in evaluating the progress of new employees. Receive prescriptions, complete data entry of prescription orders in the pharmacy dispensing software, and adjudicate third-party insurance claims. Prepare and label prescriptions consistent with state and federal labeling guidelines. Conduct point-of-sale transactions that require proper cash handling, offer patient counseling, and comply with all out-window procedures for patient safety. Answer telephones and handle calls that do not require the personal attention of a pharmacist. Deliver quality customer service in all interactions with patients. May complete unit/department-specific duties as outlined in department documents. Must apply prior to hire for Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Intern licensure by the Missouri Board of Pharmacy. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met with or without reasonable accommodation. This position is very active and may require ambulating, remaining in a stationary position and positioning self to reach and/or move objects above the shoulders and below the knees. The employee may frequently lift and/or move objects up to 10 lbs and occasionally move objects up to 25 lbs.
