Quality Control Inspector

PURPOSE/SCOPE:

• The Quality Inspector will function within a team to support Operations through part inspection (ie. FAI, rev changes), machine inspection, quality notification, rework orders, material review board of fabricated and purchased parts.

Tennant's Louisville Distribution Center (DC) is hiring for a Quality Inspector to support Operations through part inspection (ie. FAI, rev changes), machine inspection, quality notification, rework orders, material review board of fabricated and purchased parts.

GENERAL RESPONISIBILITIES:

• Performs a variety of quality control test/inspections. Including purchased parts, fabricated components and final machine inspection.
• Resolves most questions and problems, and refers only the most complex issues to higher levels.
• Ensure compliance with internal/external quality standards.
• Records statistical data and compares to existing standards.
• Clearly communicate and document non-conformances.
• Interprets and recommends modifications to existing or suggests new standards, methods or procedures.
• Document inspection results and communicate with others to ensure root causes are identified.
• Performs housekeeping and 5S to keep the department clean, safe, and well organized.
• Understands and participates in continuous improvement activities.
• Must be able and willing to float to areas of greatest business needs.
• Takes on new activities or special assignments when given

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
• 2-5 years of QC/Inspection experience OR Technical degree and 2-4 years manufacturing or related experience.
• Experience with Lean and continuous improvement projects preferred.
• Completion of quality certification program (CQI, CQT, etc.) preferred.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

• Applies intermediate level inspection skills related to inspection procedures, techniques, tools, materials, and/or equipment.
• Must be able to proficiently use all manual QC inspection equipment.
• Familiar with using the appropriate inspection tooling (i.e., micrometers, calipers, thread gages) to accurately measure part features.
• Adapt procedures, techniques, tools, materials and/or equipment to meet special needs.
• Engineering drawing reading skills. Ability to interpret basic GD&T.
• PC Skills in order to navigate production reporting (SAP).
• Ability to perform basic FAI's with set up and manual inspection tools.

REQUIRED PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Routinely lifts up to 40 pounds individually
• Works in multiple positions during a shift
• Ability to stand for an 8 hour shift

ENVIRONMENTAL EXPOSURES:

• Routinely and regularly works near moving mechanical parts
• Occasionally exposed to hot conditions
• Occasionally exposed to non-toxic fumes
• Moderate noise level
• Occasionallyexposed to oil, grease, gasoline, dust, metal particles and sharp edged materials

• Must be able to wear safety glasses, steel toed shoes and hearing protection
