Job Summary:

University Housing is now hiring! We are looking for a motivated leader to help lead a team of career and student staff in our Dining & Culinary Services department on the UW-Madison campus.

The Assistant Manager - Starbucks helps manage the daily operations of a fully operational on-campus Starbucks location, oversees and develops staff, and provides exceptional customer service.

This is a full-time appointment, and the starting annual salary is $50,960 or higher based on qualifications and includes a competitive retirement and benefits package, including generous paid time off.

Responsibilities:
Oversees daily food service operations including staff management and/or customer issue resolution in environments such as dining, retail, and/or catering venues to ensure customer satisfaction and achieve food service goals. This individual identifies work unit needs and contributes to the development of unit processes and procedures.

  • 20% Develops, implements and oversees workflow components, and assigns and coordinates the day-to-day activities of food service staff
  • 20% Selects, develops, implements and schedules logistics and menus for daily and catering operations
  • 20% Leads and provides exceptional customer service, answers questions, and provides information regarding food preparation, catering, and associated activities
  • 20% Assists with unit budget monitoring, management of inventory levels, and staff training
  • 20% Monitors adherence to federal, state, campus, and local food safety regulations, policies, and procedures, identifies needs and makes recommendations for improvement to leadership


Tasks:

  • Performs duties in a high volume, dynamic, student residential dining environment
  • Interacts with customers while displaying knowledge of food products, allergens, and food safety.
  • Supervises and leads the work of dining staff and student workers.
  • Implements standards for food quality and presentation, customer service, food safety, and operations.
  • Provides support and assists as needed in the implementation of plans and procedures in the event of an emergency.

Qualifications:

Required:
- One (1) year or more of leadership experience in a food service environment required.

Preferred:
- One (1) year or more of management experience in a food service or retail environment preferred.


License/Certification:

Required
ServSafe Certification

Current ServSafe certification, or the ability to be certified within the first 6 months of appointment.

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

This is a full-time appointment. The starting annual salary is $50,960 or higher based on qualifications and includes a competitive retirement and benefits package.


Additional Information:

The primary schedule for this position is 8 hour shifts, Sunday through Thursday, typically from 7:00am-3:30pm or 8:30am-5:00pm. Work schedule will be determined at time of offer.

Operational and work schedules will be closely aligned with the services and customer needs of the unit. As a result, work schedules may be adjusted during specific times of the year, including summer and winter break hours. Schedule alterations as operations and position expectations demand.

A criminal background check will be conducted on finalist(s).
