Job Summary: University Housing is now hiring! We are looking for a motivated leader to help lead a team of career and student staff in our Dining & Culinary Services department on the UW-Madison campus. The Assistant Manager - Starbucks helps manage the daily operations of a fully operational on-campus Starbucks location, oversees and develops staff, and provides exceptional customer service. This is a full-time appointment, and the starting annual salary is $50,960 or higher based on qualifications and includes a competitive retirement and benefits package, including generous paid time off. Responsibilities: Oversees daily food service operations including staff management and/or customer issue resolution in environments such as dining, retail, and/or catering venues to ensure customer satisfaction and achieve food service goals. This individual identifies work unit needs and contributes to the development of unit processes and procedures. 20% Develops, implements and oversees workflow components, and assigns and coordinates the day-to-day activities of food service staff 20% Selects, develops, implements and schedules logistics and menus for daily and catering operations 20% Leads and provides exceptional customer service, answers questions, and provides information regarding food preparation, catering, and associated activities 20% Assists with unit budget monitoring, management of inventory levels, and staff training 20% Monitors adherence to federal, state, campus, and local food safety regulations, policies, and procedures, identifies needs and makes recommendations for improvement to leadership Tasks: Performs duties in a high volume, dynamic, student residential dining environment Interacts with customers while displaying knowledge of food products, allergens, and food safety. Supervises and leads the work of dining staff and student workers. Implements standards for food quality and presentation, customer service, food safety, and operations. Provides support and assists as needed in the implementation of plans and procedures in the event of an emergency. Diploma Qualifications: Required: - One (1) year or more of leadership experience in a food service environment required. Preferred: - One (1) year or more of management experience in a food service or retail environment preferred. License/Certification: Required ServSafe Certification Current ServSafe certification, or the ability to be certified within the first 6 months of appointment. The starting annual salary is $50,960 or higher based on qualifications and includes a competitive retirement and benefits package. Additional Information: The primary schedule for this position is 8 hour shifts, Sunday through Thursday, typically from 7:00am-3:30pm or 8:30am-5:00pm. Work schedule will be determined at time of offer. Operational and work schedules will be closely aligned with the services and customer needs of the unit. As a result, work schedules may be adjusted during specific times of the year, including summer and winter break hours. Schedule alterations as operations and position expectations demand.
