Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit |
UNC's more than 100-year-old
ESE Department has an outstanding reputation in part because of seminal contributions made by
ESE research and tenure-track faculty in environmental engineering, environmental modeling, hydrology, and environmental chemistry. The addition of a talented research professor is desired to bolster critical mass in these important areas and provide the leadership needed to mentor students desiring to work in these areas, lead innovation on existing grants, and seeking exciting new directions of discovery in the field. |
Position Summary |
The purpose of this adjunct appointment is to contribute to the teaching, research and practice initiatives of the Gillings School of Global Public Health's Environmental Sciences and Engineering (
ESE) department. The incumbent may be asked to provide seminars or guest lectures, serve on student committees, support students with developing career opportunities, collaborate with faculty on department research, and support the recruitment of valuable presenters for the
UNC Water and Health Conference. As an adjunct faculty member, there is an
opportunity for work around global policies to support access to clean water. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
College degree in an environmentally or public health related field, or equivalent professional experience. |
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Knowledge of global policies that support access to clean water.
Experience mentoring students or clients is preferred.
Teaching experience is preferred. |

Campus Security Authority Responsibilities |
This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. This position will be required to report Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and complete annual training about reporting responsibilities. |
