Job Summary |
Student Affairs at Auburn University is seeking candidates for the position of
Recreation and Wellness Coordinator - Events. The individual selected will oversee the daily scheduling and operations of Recreation and Wellness facilities, supervise and manage the operation student staff, coordinate all aspects of routine department events and occasional special events, and provide support to all Recreation and Wellness program areas.

Essential Functions |
- Oversees the scheduling, day-to-day operations, policies, procedures, and
supervision of Recreation and Wellness facilities, including the Recreation and Wellness Center, SportsPlex, and Intramural Fields. This includes working directly with the Facility Coordinator, Building Specialist staff, Maintenance staff, Landscaping Staff, and Program Areas. - Assists with the planning and review of programs, strategies, events, and schedules for all Recreation and Wellness facilities, including assisting with the implementation of departmental risk management strategies and emergency response exercises and trainings.
- Monitors the special events budget, ensuring that policies and procedures are followed and that proper staffing and inventory levels are maintained for operation employees, supplies, and equipment.
- Oversees A/V equipment, event equipment, sports rental equipment, and cleaning supplies for recreational services. Tracks sales and inventory of items at the RWC equipment desk, SportsPlex checkout desk, and student supply areas. Works with maintenance staff and landscaping staff on promptly resolving facility and field maintenance needs.
- Coordinates the personnel management of fifteen student staff employees, including recruiting, hiring, scheduling, supervising, evaluating, and mentoring staff members.
- Develops action plans to maximize activity space offerings that enhances member satisfaction and increases active usage numbers.
- Compiles statistical data and provides and maintains reports used in the assessment and revision of goals, policies, and procedures. Delivers presentations to professional staff on findings.
- Oversees the development, implementation, and monitoring of short and long range plans for event spaces within Recreation and Wellness facilities that is consistent with the mission of the university and goals of the Division of Student Affairs.
- May provide administrative support for Recreation and Wellness which may include payroll verification, coordination of special equipment requests, and record keeping.

Scope of Degree: Degree in Recreation, Recreation Administration, Physical Education, Business, Exercise Science, or related field
Scope of Experience: Experience in sports or recreational programming working in a collegiate/community recreational environment. |

- Experience in scheduling facilities and all components of event management
- Master's degree from an accredited institution in Hospitality, Recreation Administration, Business Administration, or a related field
- Direct personnel management experience of a collegiate recreation student staff, including experience recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluating employees
- Experience with recreational facility operations in higher education
- Knowledge in facility management software, such as lnnosoft Fusion, Connect 2, and Mazevo, staff scheduling software, such as When To Work, and timekeeping software, such as Kronos
- American Red Cross First Aid/AED/CPR Instructor Certified
