The Office of Information Technology (OIT) provides information technology leadership and support to the Georgia Institute of Technology, working in partnership with academic and business units to meet the unique needs of a leading research university. OIT serves as the primary source of enterprise-wide information technology and telecommunications services in support of students, faculty, staff, and researchers. Job Summary Provide expertise in supplying advanced level IT support services to units or on campus wide basis. Services provided involve conceptualizing, planning, designing and implementing complete and integrated information technology solutions that meet business needs that are of critical importance to the Institute and externally. Use advanced IT architecture concepts to resolve complex issues.This position will interact on a consistent basis with: user department managers and staff, IT management and professional staff, vendors and contractors. Responsibilities Job Duty 1 - Conduct conceptual analyses of highly complex and critical departmental or campus wide business issues. Develop plans for solution. Job Duty 2 - Formulate and direct the design and implementation of IT systems that address departmental and/or campus wide needs. Job Duty 3 - Research and prototype emerging technologies; utilize where applicable in addressing campus IT needs. Job Duty 4 - Promote use of campus information technology standards. Job Duty 5 - May formulate strategies and administer policies, process and resources that with national or international profile. Job Duty 6 - Direct efforts of technical teams formed to address specific IT issues. Job Duty 7 - Maintain ongoing awareness of department or campus wide business needs and long term goals. Job Duty 8 - Perform other duties as assigned Required Qualifications Educational Requirements Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related Field or equivalent combination of education and experience Other Required Qualifications Requires analysis and solution of unique problems with no campus or external precedents. Confers with external experts (community, professional groups, vendors, solution providers, etc). Required Experience Four to six years of job related experience Preferred Qualifications Preferred Educational Qualifications Master's Degree Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools including git Experience with API integration, REST Linux/Unix familiarity, light SysAdmin duties such as troubleshooting or restarting of related services such as Apache, Database experience with MySQL, Postgres, or similar SQL Additional experience with programming languages such as PHP Basic knowledge of network fundamentals, IP networking, firewalls, routing Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent work experience Experience with computer networking and network protocols Proficiency in web development technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, modern frameworks) Basic understanding of database systems, retrieving information and evaluating schema design Programming experience in Python, Unix shell Problem-solving and analytical skills Strong communication and teamwork abilities Proposed Salary Budget: $112,470 Based on experience. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities SKILLS This job requires expertise in enterprise systems, networking, security or overall IT architecture. Additionally, expertise in IT systems management, infrastructure and architectural design and integration and related components and applications is required as is IT service delivery methodology and techniques, industry practices and campus policies and procedures.
