This Clinical Laboratory Supervisor I will be responsible for:
  • Pre-analytical testing clinical lab supervisor in charge of overseeing the processing area of the core laboratory. Strong skills in developing procedures, training documents, competency assessments, and a desire to improve the pre-analytical testing of specimens.
  • Coordinates staff and activities during a shift or for a localized area within the department of lab medicine. Activities include schedules and assignments, supply inventory, troubleshooting, and communications.
  • Works with the laboratory manager to assure that adequate numbers of fully trained and competent staff are scheduled to perform the work of the laboratory.
  • Participates in the selection of and provides input to the hiring, progressive discipline, and termination processes.
    Works with staff to identify and resolve complex technical and procedural problems occurring on the shifts and coaches staff on appropriate strategies for handling future occurrences.
  • Communicates all significant problems, trends, and issues to the leadership of the laboratory and develops strategies for improvement.
  • Trains and teaches laboratory personnel and other clinical staff.
  • Contributes to department continuing education.
  • Monitors and ensures the quality of shift work being performed.
  • Participates in department continuing education, including training program expanding scope of knowledge.
  • Maintains communications with customers and clients of the laboratory.
  • Performs a variety of special projects or additional work as needed/assigned, including participating in new test development and evaluation.
  • Communicates significant events and problems to the lab leadership.

To qualify, you must have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or a closely related field plus an internship
  • Internship and 3 years of experience.
  • Current registration/certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology ASCP in one of the following:
  • Certified Medical Technologist from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP),or Technologist registered/certified in one of the following:
  • Certified Technician in Hematology,
  • Certified Technician in Chemistry,
  • Certified Microbiology,
  • Certified Technician in Immunology, or Certified Tech in one of the following:
  • Blood Banking from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP),
  • Registered Microbiology from the American Association of Microbiology (AAM)

Shift/Hours:

  • Monday - Friday: Day Shift - (10:00am - 6:30pm). Weekends and holidays as needed
