DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION Monitor staff to ensure delivery and timely completion of patient transports, equipment, medical records, films, gas cylinders and supplies to requesting departments. Assign dispatch requests to Distribution Services staff for patient transport, equipment and supply distribution to ensure requests are handled in a timely manner. Document employee and departmental issues and confer with Supervisor when needed. Ensure adequate patient transport and distribution services staff coverage at all times. Receive requests from department for supplies, equipment and transports via computer system. Maintain data base and track status of requests. Process shipping authorizations and maintain logs for outgoing shipments. Process and initiate automatic inventory restock orders on an as needed basis. Obtain needed supply items from UH supply, off-site-warehouse and other sources and deliver to hospital departments in a timely manner. Answer telephone and assist with inquiries to resolve user unit problems or route calls to appropriate person. Review usage reports and make recommendation to ensure efficient and cost effective service to the departments. Communicate and collaborate with department managers or designated staff to effectively manage supplies and services. Set new PAR locations and perform routine cleaning of these locations. This includes labeling, replacing bins, additions, deletions, checking outdates, sweeping and mopping, etc. Send notification to departments to inform them of new, substitute and replacement items. Assist with cycle counts, periodic inventory of supplies and equipment. Assist in patient transports, delivery of supplies or equipment when needed. Receive incoming packages and ensure delivery to Departments. Demonstrate proactive problem solving communications with all customers, anticipating their needs and following through to completion. Maintain a positive, professional, customer friendly atmosphere within the department. Display good communication skills with customers, co-workers and other staff members. Display proper telephone etiquette. Other duties as assigned. May complete unit/department specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired. Two (2) years of experience in storeroom, dispatching, or a related operation. Chauffeur driver license; class E or higher for Missouri residents. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
